Your funny, embarassing, mistakes and weaknesses as a new player

Started as a WHM, I used to overheal like absolute crazy and I used to Regen before the tank pulled anything, it wasn't until me and a friend did Cutters Cry for the first time that a friendly couple (playing as a tank/dps respectively) gave me some healing tips, they were very pleasant and we had a laugh, so the lessons stuck.

I used to forget Heavy Thrust...a lot...

I didn't realize you had to face enemies for your shield to proc, I also underestimated just how much damage it mitigated.

Through some good advice and input, I got better.

I used to think that the LB bar belonged to the leader of the group... I remember at the end of a Sastasha run (in which I was leader), one of the DPS said "Why no LB?", and I replied with "Didn't need heals". Got an "lol" reply, and I later realized why. Thinking back on it makes me embarrassed hahaha!

My first was a GLA, I though it could lv up into a DRG. Boy after I got it to PLD then I realized it can't be a DRG. xD

I would Bane before Bio stuck... a lot.

There are SCHs and SMNs that *still* do that.

I still do it if I'm really uppity and have trigger fingers. Damn delay with Bio. *shakes fist*

Unrelated to XIV, but in XI, I remember running out to Sarutabaruta as a WHM Tarutaru, whacking things with my pole and running around the mob because I thought that helped me dodge, lmfao.

When I'm leveling as Arcanist (and Summoner), I use Titan-Egi everytime because "It's Summon II, it must be powerful than Summon I", also the way Titan-Egi can hold aggro so I think it might help Tank's burden lol.

While I was leveling Marauder I put blood for blood as cross skill. You can imagine the situation.

For a while learning melee DPS, i hesitated using AoE attacks to avoid losing TP. So i would solo target big pulls... a lot...

I also remember being so scared about DFing anything even after watching vids; I literally levespammed nearly an entire forty levels up to fifty other than the mandatory dungeons (being able to nude-glamour was that motivating).

Just started with free trial 2 weeks ago tomorrow, bought base game 2 days later after getting hooked, but earlier this week failed so hard at Qarn I got kicked and then right into Titan and even knowing mechanic I got pushed off 40-50% of time after running ASAP. Was developing DF phobia. I think that may be more common that some admit. Nice people helped me with smooth run of Qarn tonight. Confidence has gone up.
