Haurchefant was our friend, he helped us ever since we first met him at level 30 in camp dragonhead, and has always been there for us and the scions.

I personally was cheering for a Estinien x Ysayle relationship development. At the end they were just beginning to understand each other and it pains me to see the hopes of that dashed.

Course I yelled a few choice words at the screen when Estinien decided to try using even more of Nidhoggs power even though he was already barely holding onto his sanity as it was.
His stupidity (Or the bad character plot development?) makes me a little mad when I see him reappear now.

Estinien x Ysayle is my most favourite romantic pairing in the whole game. If we don't get a ship moment where she appears and helps him gain control of myself I'm throwing my remote out the window, gosh darn it.

He wasn't trying to use more power when he took both eyes though, he was going to take them somewhere to either seal away or be destroyed so it would never be a problem again. Unless you mean before then, but he has shown he has enough willpower to overcome one eye.

I phrased that poorly.
What I meant was 'He barely held onto his Sanity when bearing the burden of a single eye and yet he chose to take the second; foolishly thinking he had the will to resist them both.'

If Ysayle is still alive somewhere, protected by the dragons hide/magic/finalfantasysparkles then I would be rather happy about that XD.

The eye was controling him. It was like Bilbo Baggins and the One Ring. Eventually, it wore down his defenses, just like it did the azure dragoons that came before him. My guess is, his azure armor being turned red was symbolic of the moment his will gave out. Then, it was simple for Nidhogg to compel him to pick up the second eye.
