Thordan story mode. Me as mt and a war as ot. I pull and the war just sits there the WHOLE TIME. Doesn't even bother to put one hit on thordan. Talk about a lazy ass carry. I was hoping I was going to be able to rotate thordan to possibly cleave him to death, but he ran around with the dps so I couldn't.

DRK tank: No Darkside, no bloodprice, no CD.

This goes on until after the second boss, them doing small pulls and still losing aggro.

I'm debating telling them, but I'm on my first coffee and not really in the mood for the game of russian roulette that is telling someone, however kindly, that they are doing it wrong.

So, obviously, since they have finally popped Darkside after the second Boss (their first CD of the run) they run out of MP quickly on the first pack of mobs and lose hate. I use it as an opening to nudge them and say "Blood Price will help you regain that MP". The MCH chimes in too.

Their response, turn off Grit and use Blood Weapon after the packs are dead. Then pull the next pack out of tank stance with no MP.

At the last boss they say "Sorry, my buttons are all messed up" <-- I kind of doubt it, but hey, there are worse responses to get.

Me, "Thats OK, go ahead and take some time to set them up, I thought something was weird with no darkside or defensive CD, but that explains it."

They obv don't set it up and pull immediately in Darkside, but no Blood Price again, so they run out of MP. Also they start doing the thing where they pop every defensive CD at once, during periods of no damage. I was surprised that I didn't see a mentor crown above their head.

Other than that, no complaints or comments.

Doing Sohm Al for a chance at the Gaelikitten, get a PLD, DRG and...BRD, I think. The BRD has obviously queued up with someone else in the party, as she's typing things in the party chat. We go through the trash to the first boss, the BRD dc's midway through the last pull, and the tank goes "Noo, <BRD's name>", so they were obviously friends. No biggie, we can wait. We stand by the entrance to the first boss for a good 10 minutes when the vote dismiss window opens up. I click yes, because, from my own experience, if I dc and don't manage to get back in 10 minutes, it's not happening for a while. It goes through, and initially it seems the tank is fine with it too, until she pipes up with a "thanks for kicking my friend".

Now, I figured I could go with a diplomatic response, but since she wanted to be passive-aggressive I went with the classical "you're welcome". A replacement, another DRG, arrives seconds afterwards, and a vote abandon pops up, obviously from the tank. So I say that if she wants to leave, she can leave, the rest of us have no obligation to abandon a duty that we want to complete. "I'm not taking penalty just cuz you guys decided to kick someone who dc'd" is the answer. The replacement DRG basically says "boohooh", and the tank announces that she's not gonna do anything. So I decide to pull, the first boss doesn't really need tanking anyway, but what do you know, halfway through, the tank decides to join the fight. Awesome, done with attitude, right?

Nope, this is where she starts calling us bad people for kicking her friend and saying things like "it's a shame that people don't know how to play nice". I respond with a simple "Too bad your friend dced, but we can't possibly wait forever for her to come back. I've been kicked countless times, it's nothing to be upset about, suck it up". Eventually, the tank decides to just stand there doing nothing, so the DPS and I finish the last trash pack before the second boss, wait like 10 minutes for the tank to pull the boss and finally decide to take it down ourselves. A bit of a complication with the Chyme not dying, but otherwise nothing big and we decide to clear the trash up until the last boss in case the tank comes back. Nope, no response, so I ask "if we are bad people for kicking a player who's been offline for 10 minutes, then what are you for holding up the whole run for the rest of us?" before I initiate a kick against her. I have never seen a kick go through so quickly, I think. Ask a tank friend if he can join us, but he ends up in another party, ofc. We do get a WAR after some time tho, and we finally finish the duty after 50 minutes. And no Gaelikitten drop, of course.

Finally roll above a 50 and get a 98.

Confident I finally have it. I go on giving the new player a few more leaving tips. Then I realize that I didn't hear the winning sound. Obviously the BLM who kept going for the bombs I said I would get, and who would deliberately not trip the Boost needle, even though he was always the first one running directly across the arena to it every time... He would deliberately run around the post, well obv he rolled a 99.

And now a 92 that someone else rolled a 95 on. But he was the other healer who played well, so it feels better.

I queued up as SCH with a tank friend for level 60 roulette and ended up in Aetherochemical Research Facility. No bonus message, unfortunately. It's kind of whatever to me at this point to get that dungeon, because I know that between his pulls and my DPS we can demolish the place even if we get newbie DPS, much less if we get people that know what they're about. He queues PLD so he can use Protect, leaving me able to keep SS and still use Blizzard II. Immediately upon seeing what dungeon it is and the lack of a bonus message, the Black Mage ragequits. We didn't even wait for another DPS to replace him, just started demolishing the first pull with what we had. A DPS joins 5-10 seconds into the first pull, catches up with us, and we then proceed to steamroll the place in under 19 minutes. Silly BLM could've saved himself about 1/3 of that half hour lockout by just running it. :3

Other than that, no complaints or comments.

You're just getting lucky and getting people that either don't notice your bad play, don't care about it, or aren't willing to say anything to random strangers in DF. If I ran into you in a dungeon and you played like that, I would probably ask you outright to use WM because it's a pretty big DPS gain. If you refused, it's even odds on whether we'd initiate a vote kick or just carry you. That would depend on who I'm queued with, really. I don't mind carrying people that are newer or just gearing up. I do mind carrying people that outright refuse to play their class to the best of their ability. Even if we did just choose to leave you alone and carry, you can bet that we'd be bitching in FC or on voice chat about how heavy the awful bard we had in roulette was.

I'm actually curious what logic you used, since the difference between WM and non-WM is not enough to cause wipes or slow things to a crawl in a roulette. WM has a much higher likelihood of losing your rhythm and dropping more dps, whereas 2.0 BRD can be more consistent under all situations without having to learn 2 different dances. If the BRD sucked, they just sucked, regardless of WM. Demanding WM from a BRD who doesn't have practice with it will not make your DF any quicker, and getting pissed will make it seem long regardless of actual time elapsed.

At 120% boost, WM was an acknowledged DPS loss. At 130% boost, it's a gain, but the difference between 120% and 130% is only 8%. So, looking at it simplistically, you can expect less than 8% boost with extra complexity and unreliability. If the BRD is not all that good to begin with, I think you might want them to stick with non-WM.

I don't have WM on my bar because I don't find it to be fun (makes the combat system worse than it already was). After all these years, my muscles are way too twitchy on my mouse hand, and it cancels too many actions. The only content I haven't attempted and completed yet is Thordan ex, Seph ex, and savage modes (no interest). The only person to ask me about using WM was a tank who couldn't even hold aggro from me until I slowed down use of my buffs (using quelling strikes when available) in a regular dungeon. WM would have made that worse. This was right around the time of HW release. Other than that, no complaints or comments.

I'm at a loss for words about what I read here. As a Bard main myself, this is just complete BS.

The only time I see it acceptable to not have WM on is if you're synced down to 52 or 53. The damage gain is not significant and you don't have the WM-only skills available anyways.

But to me bards without WM are nearly as bad as scholars with their fairies on sic (especially Eos). I die a little inside each time I come across them.

52 bolts deep into running A6N this week. Still have yet to roll higher than 50 on any. >.>

[EDIT] Got my bolt. Begged my friends for a pity party. They finally caved. I solo healed and we burned everything. I rolled a 91 on the bolt, LOL. MY SUFFERING HAS ENDED.

I also had one party not that long ago. We had a very egotistical BLM. Ripped hate from the tank on the first boss, made me waste 3k MP on a raise, just to return to the start and complain. On the last boss we had both the tanks and the healer go down to Ultra flash, so I had to quickly raise a tank. We ended up wiping 'cause I was spamming heals too hard to move to the water tower. BLM started to insult the tanks and healers, so he got vote dismissed pretty quickly. XD
