Worldwide there are 58,389
In Japan they make up 18,249
From a business standpoint it's a no-brainer to use them but if you try to do the same in Europe and America, again there are issues and things to keep in mind. NA especially because it's not just Americans, but what of the Canadian players, they are different countries, follow different laws, so you have to find one for each sides that works in order to make it work.
One thing that comes to mind is a Soda Company, Pepsi, Coca Cola, Mountain Dew, they could try to cross-promote with them but again the difference in the country size, trying to crosspromote an MMO in North America compared to Japan especially a Final fantasy title might be a bit hard to convince a corporation how it would be worth it in their country of origin. In Japan Final Fantasy is like a national treasure, so teaming up is easy, the land mass reduces the reach they need to make the campaign work and overall it is just easier.
I know it sucks to have to wait to see how they plan to do it in NA or EU but ye know there are things like the fan festival that's half a year away and such if I"m not mistaken, so maybe they will do something with twitch to make it work. You know how they had Twitch "subscription" set at I think 20-25 and with it you got in-game items. Maybe SE will decide to have a crosspromote livestream with Youtube and Twitch, with Twitch having Side A items and Youtube having Side B items.
Again it's just brainstorming, because the main thing to keep in mind is if/when they introduce an NA/EU way to obtain these items, they don't want to do it in a way that may have the Japanese players feel cheated or robbed of their money.
Cause let's say the point system in the Japanese method is like 20 dollars ends up being used but then SE is just like, ok it's 5 dollars if you want the items. Japanese players would be irritated by that because they offered a cheaper option to other countries while they had to play a campaign game with 7-Eleven.
