I thought "Half-breed" referred to children with one Eorzean and one Garlean parent. Not necessarily biracial kids. Garleans consider themselves holier than thou to the Eorzeans, even though they're the same races.

Well, Highlanders are native to Ala Mhigo, so they're not rare there. And if I remember correctly, Sea Wolf Roegadyn are native to some islands north (?) of Eorzea, while Hellsguard are native to the Reach, which is in Abalathia Spine, but is not Dravanian Territory. (Abalathia's Spine is the whole mountain range, including, but not limited to, such regions as Dravania, Coerthas, and Xelphatol.)
That's right Hellsguard are from the Volcanic Foothills of The Northern Reaches.Well, Highlanders are native to Ala Mhigo, so they're not rare there. And I'm not counting out of game areas like Ala Mihgo since there's not even a map there get. Let alone NPCs.

This may be silly to mention, but at the Gold Saucer there are two NPC's, a Roe and a small hyur child. The child calls the Roe 'Da' and says he misses 'Ma and Sis'. So, I mean, it could easily be a step dad or something. But the child is definitely Hyur and the 'father' is definitely a Sea Wolf. So I mean, without seeing the mother or sister we can't jump to conclusions but it's something to think about.

Couldnbe like FF7's Barret Wallace. Marline is is best friend Dyne's Daughter but he raised her after Dyne's death. This may be silly to mention, but at the Gold Saucer there are two NrrPC's, a Roe and a small hyur child. I'd really love to know why cross-racial adoption is practically a celebrity trend in Ul'Dah, honestly. Pippin and Minfilia were both cross-racial adoptees.
Could Amajina & Sons be a genuine mixed-marriage? The very Roegadyn Fyrgeiss represents the family on the Syndicate but Seserukka, Popokkuli and Nenekko's mother was very definitely a Lalafell back in 1.0. (Given that the kids are all popotos it may be a blended family rather than mixed-race kids.)
It's not only Ul'dah, though. Think of Krile, she was adopted by a Midlander iirc. And I'm pretty sure there are some other examples, I just can't remember them right now <.<I'd really love to know why cross-racial adoption is practically a celebrity trend in Ul'Dah, honestly. For Amajina & Sons... both is possible, maybe? We don't know how the defs decide genetics work in this game. It could be that kids lean closer toward one parent (think Pokémon - female determines what's born), or that certain races are dominant somehow. In case of lalafel that would actually make sense considering size differences...
Yeah, I know Hilda got both Elezen and Hyur traits, but, again, we don't know how genetics are supposed to work...
Personally, though, I think Fyrgeiss might just have married into the family.
On another note. Rather than wondering if half-breeds are possible, since they obviously are (and between all races I think, see def quote above)... are half-breeds able to breed? The examples Liger and donkey were brought up before, and iirc many real live halfbreads can't breed, or lose the ability some generations after the original one. So, can they here?
Damn, it's been a while since I've seen the archives.http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post490835

Glade to see they still exist.

Your wish is my command. Meet Kacho Nacho the Lalaqot'e.
Thanks for looking that up! Wow, addressed way back in 2011!http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post490835

So, it's rare and often difficult due to cultural differences. Hmm, I wonder what quests/events refer to, or expand upon, this topic?
