People are deliberately ruining the story for others

The whole rushing in story dungeons is annoying and people are blind to the issue. If you bring it up, you only get flamed and insulted. There is no repercussion for those people because they are backed by most of the rest of the group, no matter how rude or inconsiderate they are.

There needs to be a mechanic that puts people into that ring that you cannot leave like at the beginning, when someone watches a cutscene.

Or adjust the scaling so that downscaled level 60 players cannot just zergrush everything. There is something wrong when 1 Tank can just pull everything together so it get's nuked. Also, lock out elevators/portals when enemies are still about.

It can't be that a story heavy game like Final Fantasy has it's Story ruined so easily by players that don't care about others. Which is sad in itself, because MMORPGs used to be about the community and playing together, not rushing through a dungeon without a word exchanged.

Story isn't really ruined, there is no NPC dialogue that you miss out on in dungeons, all the cutscenes are watchable from your inn room.

This has been discussed. No they won't do anything about old content. Yes they confirmed it was a mistake. No they won't add lengthy story parts to dungeons again. It's a shame at best, but you can watch the story in the inn.

While it is sad that first time experiences are ruined, I personally do not like your idea at all. I feel if they added it, queue times for main scenario would probably quadruple - which may make things even worse.

When 2 bosses die, while you watch one cutscene, then yes, that is being ruined.

Watching it later at the Inn is a poor excuse of an answer as it's not the same experience as to watching the cutscenes AS they unfold.

True, but here are the options:

    1. We can enforce people to wait, but then most people won't queue for these. Therefore queue times would skyrocket. You can then hit a snag in your story while you wait 2 hours for your dungeon, complete it in an hour, then wait 2 hours for your next. (and to be honest, I would not be surprised if queue times jumped up to 6 hours)

    2. You can skip the cutscenes and respect that you are playing with 7 other people who may not want to be there for an hour, have much faster queue times, and just go watch the cutscenes later.

    3. You can watch the cutscenes and let your team do it's thing and then you miss the bosses but enjoy the cutscenes as they unfold, then you can queue back in to experience the bosses for some extra poetics

All situations are pretty bad, and it is still not obvious to me what the dev team was thinking when they put in 30 minutes of cutscenes in the middle of 8-person grouped content. Luckily, it appears they learned their lesson.

    Exactly.

I'd think this is common sense. People who don't want to be supportive of new players shouldn't be queing up for story dungeons.

I'm assuming this is another Castrum/Praetorium thread. Honestly, a lot of people run Main Scenario Roulette to level alts or to get some daily tomes. Praetorium in particular can be cleared in about 15 minutes but that skyrockets to 50 minutes if you do a full clear (i.e. killing all mobs and watching all cutscenes, possibly more if you have a slow reader in your party). Suddenly those tomes or exp aren't nearly as appealing, and many people simply wouldn't queue for it. The end result would be that new people would have a difficult time getting into these dungeons at all. I'd rather see them be able to progress their story than not.

It sucks that your experience was ruined, but it kind of is what it is. These dungeons have been around for over 2 years now. SE made a poor design choice sprinkling CS liberally through them, and it's a design choice they haven't repeated. The best way to get a full run would be to get a Party Finder together with the express purpose of watching the cutscenes and running the dungeon as it was intended to be run. In DF, the best you can realistically expect is that people will just run the instance without you and not mind you watching the cutscenes. It's not that people are blind to the issue; they just (very understandably) don't want to spend nearly an hour in a dungeon for the same reward they could get in 15 minutes or less doing other things.

As for level 60's zerg rushing them... we've been zerg rushing them since we were in like i90 gear.

Actually, your best bet is to spend some time finding a good FC on your server. All you'd need are like four friends to queue up for the dungeon with you and wait while you watch cutscenes. That would solve the problem of everything being zerged without you.
