if i want to run around shooting in an amercain style war game, i will join the army. a game can be what ever you want, you are not bound by reality. i guess what this really shows is a lack of imagination on behalf of western developers. the day i walk into games shop to only have a choice shooting or football, is the day i put my console in the attic.

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

Screw graphics, give me a fun game.

Though I guess I don't fit Azu's demographic, considering I'm from the UK, not NA.
Anyone would feel immersed in Ys Games.

    Even Oath in Felghana.

Especially Origins because hell, he doesn't like knowing about the past given you're dumped into said Darm's Tower in the first game?

That's why I still have my sega mega drive, saturn, dreamcast and master system set up on my desk. The modern rubbish a lot of developers are puking out nowadays is nothing compared to the classics

Also if we're going to talk immersion, I found Panzer Dragoon Saga to be amazingly immersive.

Sure I had to sell my PS2 and all of the games to get hold of it, but it was totally worth every penny. <3

Wish I still had my old consoles to play, should have my N64 somwhere, that and PS1 was the last console with truely great games imo, which is prolly why Nintendo are releasing all the old N64 clasics on the 3ds.

Only console I ever sold was my Spectrum ZX2, to get a Commodore 64. Since then I've never gotten rid of a console, 'cos if I ever have kids I'd be able to show them all the games I played when I was young.

We all saw how the 'retro' fad took off not long ago, imagine how a 6 year old kid would feel 10 years from now seeing 8 bit graphics from Chuck Rock or James Pond

Sonic Colors is excellent. Arguably the best Sonic game in many years.

I'm really looking forward to Sonic Generations in November.

Gonna be kind of confusing though, Sonic doesn't age, so both modern and classic Sonic are 16 years old...

That's not really the devs' fault as much as it is the customers' fault. Realistic war games sell well because everyone is enamored with the idea of war or being a soldier, but doesn't want to actually go to a battlefield.

Make more noise for cool games, and give your support to the devs that make cool games. I've been buying indie games like an idiot lately, because they're fun and they move away from the same tired formulas big-name devs are following for their flagship titles.

Indeed, I've been snatching up every anime game that comes out on the 360 hoping that my small contribution can work with others to promote more anime games for xbox.

    It's a useless dream I know, but I can only hope ; ;

Though since I have a job now I could just... like... buy a PS3 and that'll solve all the problems...

i think the main thing is as consoles have got more powerful, dev's have had the power to create more and more realistic looking games, this is just a fad (i hope) and in time creativity will come. as ppl get bored of FPS's and sales drop. from the chatter i hear ppl are already starting to look for something a bit different
