Mentor Roulette Working as Intended?

That's kind of funny. I was wondering why mentor roulette requires a few pieces of content I've never bothered with (I'm not a fan of 8-man content), because you're never going to see a new leaf in any content beyond Brayflox normal. I assumed it would just be infinite satasha/tamtara/copperbell runs with the occasional ifrit normal and maybe a haukke manor run.

I don't understand the benefit of doing it. It barely gives any rewards, and it doesn't help anyone. I feel more useful with the other roulettes.

The dev's never mentioned the 30 dungeons/ex's/trials/raids that were required. It's a really long list for content that leafs probably don't need help with. If you don't know your class after 50 there's not a lot a mentor can help you on.

Of course, as I write this when I DPS I double the other guy consistently so maybe they do need the help or they just are phoning it in.

This. As long as it doesn't already have a mentor in the party, it'll stick you into whatever needs filling.

My first 5 Mentor Roulettes were Dusk Vigil with people who knew what they were doing. XD

It'll even match you with another mentor if needed, just to help with queue times.
I've been in a roulette with 3 mentors before.

I know right? First day of 3.0 it was burnable.

On topic, if this roulette only matched you with newbs then it would be a great way to fish for bonus. Bad thing? Maybe not. New relic got loads of people through old content

So far I've been paired with at least 1 new person and no other mentor. I always just toss out a greeting and say that if anyone has questions, they just should ask. The multiple 60s people usually say "I'm good" and those who are truly new do tend to ask if there's something to watch out for (which I usually just give them the most important thing for their role).
That said I did join as tank so far cause that's what DF needs most of the time and I always got different content. (Ifrit story, Vault, Research Facility, Copperbell story, Anti-Tower)

Mentor rou will never put you with another mentor but that doesn't always mean they will be newbies. Also, that is a rude comment IMO, yes the boss is burnable, but had there been there been some new, who is to say they don't need to know the mechanics?

My first and only mentor roulette was three mentors and an old player leveling a tank.

Another thing to keep in mind here is (no offense to OP) the qualifications to slap the crown on your head don't really mean much. The first mentor I saw in game was someone I know who proclaimed in 3.0 they played SCH with only 2 action bars. I was talking about how they might need a 4th now and confirmed, if you don't keybind at least 1 action to something off your bars, you have 37 actions you should have easily accessible. vs 24 on 2 bars. I could forgive not having things like pet actions on your main bars, but that only covers 4 actions + place, there's still a lot of things that SCH doesn't even have ready to use, let alone be good enough at the job to be considered a good mentor.

Even found out on one of my characters if you meet the gatherer/crafter requirements you get mentor status. He's only got 1 lv 60 combat class, ran into the npc by fluke and figured I'd see the message about not qualifying but he goes "You're a mentor now!"

So basically you're a mentor and you're a mentor and you're a mentor and you're a mentor and you're a mentor and you're a mentor and HEY YOU OVER THERE COME GET YOUR MENTOR CROWN!

Mentor roullette also includes stuff not found in other roullettes eg. A1N to A4N, Crystal tower.

Its primarily to also allocate some roullette support to hard to fill instances like Crystal tower. I dont know if its reduced CT wait times though lol.

It reduced the wait time for World of Darkness, before the patch I tried several times to get in to do it and waited 3+ hours with no luck. I tried again yesterday and was in within 30 mins and finally got it completed.

The mentor roulette is helping the que for older content.
