<<<< still owns all final fantasy games. originals, remakes, relaunches, spin offs, sequels.

    including kingdom hearts

tbh i love them all, they're fantastic. sure some arent as good as others, but can any of us say we truely hate 1 final fantasy game? by that i mean, honestly ask yourself, was your expectations to high for the title?

okay, i wasnt a huge fan of the XIII battle command system but thats because i love to see customisability, for example, materia from 7, the GF system in 8, weapons, armour and accessories from 9 and of course, the one everyone has nightmares over, EXPERT sphere grid from X.

(actually i'd like a similar thing to the grid in 14 but its been done already so maybe to much of a cop out)

but come on, its things like that which made great games, character developement, how many other games brought grown adult men to tears when a character is perminantly killed off (aries, 7) how many games instire a sence of "i must keep fighting" just from the music alone? letalone captivate you in the storyline!

cant think of too many that'll do that for ya, most games now are simple shooter games that require the "exclusive skill of camping", twitch shooting, or just being retarded in order to play.

<<< Stil a proud owner of the re-released Ehrgeiz with added dungeon feature. Cost me a lot of money but gawdangit it was worth every penny!

I went back and replayed FF8 earlier this year. When I first played it I didn't have a very good grasp of attributes and stats, so I didn't really understand what linking spells to stats would do, but after playing games like WoW and such I'd learned how stats could have a drastic effect on things. That being said, at level 5 I'd managed to buff Squall all the way up to over 2000 health just by linking 99 Cure's to his vitality stat, and his damage potential was immense from having 99 Fires linked to his Strength stat. With that knowledge I happily sauntered on stacking as much magic as i could to each characters stats, it took a long time since I had to keep sucking certain kinds of magic from certain enemies, but it made the game a total breeze! First time I'd played through FF8 my lack of grasping the stats system left me running from every fight I could because I knew I couldn't win, and by the time I hit disc 4 I was only level 25, which made it impossible to get to the end.

So in the end I loved the customisability in FF8 when originally I didn't really like the game, it just took a little more understanding of what effects certain things had on the characters. That being said I keep trying to convince myself to go and give FFXII another try, I've already made 3 attempts to play through it and never even made it out of the first city, but where there's a will there's a way, and I believe I just may like the game if I can just get over the extremely slow start.

TBH most casual players don't even know FF14 exists, I would say FF13 hurt the franchise just as much even though it did sell quite well it was still a let down.

I'd say what has damaged the final fantasy name was when SE started to change or fix things that didnt need fixing like removing lvling and adding sphere grids etc. Removing character uniqueness by adding all the same abilites too each character ie Final Fantasy 8,12,13,14 at least in 10 there was still alot of uniqueness per character yet i think including the sphere grid still hurt the game in some ways. I cant stand 13 i dont care how pretty it looks its boring!!!! BORING! BORING!
completely linear in a bad way only like 10 monster models(im sorry adding machine versions of the same monster model doesnt make it a new one) Even 14 right now is lacking in monster variety but alot man there was so many good monster models in 11.

Ah the FF7: Ultima Edition? I have that too, but I didn't like that they changed some of the speech. Barret lost his 'Mr. T attitude' when they started changing the blanked swearing for other things. That being said I had a PS1 memory card with all 15 slots devoted to the most epic moments in FF7, saved right before the cut-scene or event. It meant I could go back and play as tifa or Cid if I wanted, or relive clouds past. Still have that memory card floating around somewhere too XD

Every one's opinions about what FF did right or wrong or what games were best are just that; their opinions. FFX was my first FF game and I never finished it; too difficult because I was clueless of how to play a game like that. XI...oh XI...was my first ever MMO and I loved that game no matter how F'ING difficult it was to do somethings like Dunes PTs >.< lol. The reason that XIV was a disappointment was because I saw ALL the stuff SE did with XI and other than a few tweaks, they had ALLL they needed to make XIV what could have been the BEST MMO EVAR imho.

But as I said, it's my opinion, you can't make me change it and currently, I'm having a blast with a great LS and players old, new and returning.

Btw, LOVE these stories you guys are telling.
