So, now that we are done with STR tanks, let's move on to DEX BLM's.
I will probably get some hate for this comment but.
I feel that the reason more str tanks seemed to know what they were doing instead of vit tanks is because if someone is new to the game and don't know anything about it vit seems like a logic choice to go for as a tank.
So therefore you had most of the new tanks rocking vit and most of the experienced ones who know what they were doing using str gear as they knew they didn't need that much HP for anything in the game currently and the extra str was more beneficial.
Just my opinion on that though.
Thing is, we don`t know how the damage calculation is going to be, if VIT will be REALLY superior to STR, then yeah, but i have read on the forums that its probably going to probably be a 50/50 split, which, considering you just reminded me there is an even more irrelevant stat than parry, HP, will totally make sense to get rid of any VIT/parry accesory in trade of a STR/Det-crit-skill speed one.That would be incredibly foolish. Even if STR and VIT have .5 AP each, VIT has lower weight to it on gear, and will therefore have more of it on them then a similar STR piece. AttackPower is so incredibly more powerful then DET/CRIT/Whatever, that even a few more AP is worth a lot of Det/Crit/etc.
Plus, you'd be giving up a lot of HP for an EXTREMELY marginal DPS increase, if they even gave a DPS increase in the first place, which would be really silly to do.
If the split is even more biased towards VIT then STR, it would certainly be a DPS loss to use STR, doesn't matter what the secondaries are.
Now if the split becomes 70/30 for VIT/STR, now thats a diferent matter.
And i still don`t know where this "forget about DPS" thing comes from, Tanks will still do DPS, the only thing changing will be the formula, any WAR running Deliverance and carrying bad DPS through duties today will keep doing it tomorrow. It might happen that they just get a bit more HP from it all, and not a relevant amount that is.
I am expecting something more like STR=DET =~0.2 VITThing is, we don`t know how the damage calculation is going to be, if VIT will be REALLY superior to STR, then yeah, but i have read on the forums that its probably going to probably be a 50/50 split, which, considering you just reminded me there is an even more irrelevant stat than parry, HP, will totally make sense to get rid of any VIT/parry accesory in trade of a STR/Det-crit-skill speed one.

Yoshi has clearly said that tanks will do less damage in 3.2 than they do now (that is VIT 3.2 < STR 3.15). However, due to the ilvl increases, tanks will still get more powerful.
Goodbye Strength tanks, a viable variation of the trinity that stretched the mold but the playerbase that cries out for variety squashed with complaints ;w;
<3 this. And all the salty people in this thread who go "BAI STR TANKS, HAHA" when what they're really saying is "Thank god we're getting rid of players who actually push themselves to tank well AND max their damage, bring on the bads who turtle!"
If yoshi said that, well, we can foresee a few points drops on tank logs across parsers, but nothing terrible, if anything, this game never does anything "extreme". Full Cleave was 10k yesterday, it will be maybe 9.5k tomorrow.
