the bigger problem is that most people are not skilled enough to beat those fights, since we are not 100 item levels op for them yet.

Ravana's honestly not that bad. I've had a ~75%ish success rate when DFing it alone when I'm bored. Usually failure only comes from people quitting too quickly. It's pretty easy normally, but becomes super easy with echo if the party is bad enough to wipe a bunch of times to build it up.

The last thing I did before logging off today actually was DF Ravana EX. We only wiped once, and that was because a healer was new.

Most failures I've had with Bismarck were because of one or both of the following reasons:
-Dumb tank(s) who can't read
-Extremely low DPS (~400-ish with echo) that my own DPS output can't compensate for
In the absence of those two factors, it's almost always a success (eventually).

but very few people have the patience or intent to help someone get to grips with the content. That is, unfortunately, one of the downsides of a community that likes to pretend that it is 'efficient'.

More likely, what happened:

The first group of non-static people that cleared it farmed for a bit. Went their seperate ways.
Guy A checked the PF and didn't see any Thordan-EX parties up, decides to make his own farm because he - surprise! still needs his weapon.
After he gets his weapon, he keeps checking for Thordan-EX parties. They're all either: 1) not there. 2) Farms expecting people with clears.
Guy A's not gonna go out of his way to create a practice party.

The biggest gate to practicing that most 'new players' have is themselves. They're too lazy to make their own bloody parties and instead wait until everyone else has it mastered and try to sneak in and leech a clear.

For example; last night, there was a Phase 8+/Clear party in PF. I joined in on it for the fun of it and to help people out, even got to play as my Bard for a bit (A class I am wholly not great at but is servicable.)

7/8 people had the clear. Only our scholar needed a clear. That's right - 7/8 people were there to help one person because they created their own PF.

Making excuses that the "lucky" players don't want to come teach you isn't getting you anywhere.

I think you misunderstood the post. You could be the most skilled player ever to enter Eorzea but unless 7 other people are willing to give you a trial then you're never going to be part of a clear team. It's all well & good putting up farm parties in PF but those who haven't cleared can't join. There's very little life in DF after the first round of clears. So unless you luck out with a good FC who are willing to help you're often SOL. There's still a lot of people who are only now clearing Coil; not because they couldn't have cleared it without the higher ilevel or Echo, but because they joined to late to be "allowed in" by the already established groups. I tried Coil in DF before HW & at least half the group were playing as if they had their eyes closed & were mashing the keyboard with their foot.

That's strange if Thordan will get a mount. If they are doing mounts for Mistrel's Ballad fights then why did Ultima's Bane never get one. It was in the no man's land of no mount and no roulette.

Are the weapons becoming desynth-able? That and the mounts would be enough incentive for me to do Bis and Rav again.

Maybe because Ultima isn't a primal, but Thordan is? That's my guess, at least.
