There's a special place in hell for DF tanks who hesitate after running toward a boss

Regarding the DPS buffs, while I whine some on the inside if stacks fall off, I wait for the tank to make the first move. As a tank, I tend to keep a certain pace for most of the dungeon, but as soon as I reach the boss areas, I wait for everyone to be on the inside of the barrier. Call it trust issues, but that's my personal thing.

As a healer though, I do sympathize with the crit Adlo thing. It's the last thing I cast on the tank (and the last thing I see others cast on the tank), and it's just sad to watch it wear off before the boss is pulled.

We tend to do this so that TA will be ready on pull, FYI.

And it could just be easily used when the rest of the party is there. There's no reason for any combat-only buffs(all classes/jobs, not just NIN) to be used before the entire light/full party is there, especially one like Suiton(and Eye for an Eye, I see this one wasted more than any other buff) that has a long CD AFTER the initial timer for the skill to be used.

Personally, my general rule is "If everyone's in the boss room, we're ready". That's what I judge to pull with. FC Members or other friends can be exempt from this personal rule for S&Gs.

I feel for you BRD, but as a NIN I always shadewalker the tank anyway, so the suiton will pull it to them myself. Can't trust DF tanks to open with enough enmity anyway. My Suiton opener is safe unless they decide to play ring around the rosie with it too.

I don't care about it that much when playing DPS classes. It's df..
Nobody is gonna get all furious if my dps is 50 lower than what would be possible if all conditions were perfectly met and enough butt-clenching was involved.
I mean, of course it annoys me when I have to waste my Ninjutsu on Huton again instead of having Suiton ready, but it's really not a big thing. It's not like df content has ANY harsh dps checks to be met.
It's not gonna kill a little part of me when I have to use my self-buffs AFTER the tank started pulling on BRD. Wasting 2 seconds applying them will not make me drop down to 200 dps, and you know what? I also cleared content with those 200 dps folks as well.
My oh my...

That said, when I'm the healer, these tanks annoy the heck out of me. So I start casting SS/Adlo/AST mini shield if it isn't applied yet BECAUSE they seem to be waiting for it, and they run towards the opponent. So of course, to not pull hate off early, I stop the cast. Then they stop too (probably because they saw me casting). Since they are standing still and waiting, I use the opportunity to finish the cast this time....by which time they of course already pulled and now I have hate...xD
It's like this weird shuffle you do with strangers who want to walk in the opposite direction and you always try to get out of their way but they do the same so you end up in front of each other again..x.x

That's why I just gave up giving out ANY buffs at the start of a fight (tanks usually get their shields applied at the end of the last pull, and if it runs out before the next pull/the boss because of excessive unrelated waiting, fine, not my problem, I'm still gonna start in Cleric Stance °-°)

The only time I pause after running forward is if I see the healer start to cast stoneskin way late. I don't want to be the tank who runs away from buffs. But definately if I see the dps pop their cds I run anyways as I play dps as well.

Notice I said when Ready Check 4/4 is complete. That means pull it soon. Its also the sign for DPS to be ready to load up cooldowns soon. It also means the healer is ready too. If they want to apply protective buffs that is the time to do it. No one is going to die without a stoneskin. Maybe they just want to Succor everyone. It's fine, it says ready. The issue is more along the lines of "I'm going to pull now....*run* Sike!" Or Ready Check Complete 4/4. Lets just sit there another 45 seconds and look at my shoe. Bye bye cooldowns. The ready check initiator is saying they are ready, or if you, yourself aren't ready, don't initiate the check.

While I only run Roulettes with FC members now, and shun the solo roulettes like the Geostigma, I'll admit I don't even wait for protect before I hop out the gate xD, and I'm running to pull the boss before the last mob of the pack is dead. Of course my friends already know I'm a street-walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm, so I like to believe they're incorporating my ridiculous juggenaut playstyle into theirs and still salute me for getting them through Fractal Continuously >20 and SMC >25.
