Entitled would be demanding it. I'm making a polite request. And like I said, nobody gives two sh its about it in pvp. I'm not seeking a reward, I'm requesting a favor, i.e. 2 secs of someone's time after a match.

i always give a commendation at the end of every duty except all the people were really really bad or unfriendly, because it's only a few clicks. but i NEVER give any commendations to a person who asks for it. that's just cheap begging (and also not fair for the other people).

How exactly is it unfair? And by what logical, rational process do you come to the decision of who to give it to? Think fast cuz you got about 1.5 secs before the whole team disbanded!

Cmon bro. Be serious. Commendations is not a well designed system for rewarding and encouraging good play.

Do you even pvp bro? Yeah I get commendations now and then, but it doesn't take too many matches to see the vast majority don't really take the time to give out commendations in pvp.

Don't try to be snide and insinuate that I don't get no loving cuz I'm not "good" at this game or that I did something, my attitude or whatnot, to not "deserve" getting a commendation. Don't be rude now.

Only reason I'm asking is cuz I want enough to be a mentor next patch and help out beginners for random glamours and fun. Figured since I\\\\'ve been pvping 5 hours a day that people might not mind helping me get to my goal faster.

And yeah, outside of this new feature, commemdations aren't a big deal. If you pvp you would know.

People who pvp, pvp like it's an addiction. They just insta quit, requeue, and proceed to steamroll the next pack of pvp newbs.

Commendations aren't a big deal but the game feature locked behind it is. But I'll get enough eventually for the mentor roulette - just a few dozen short at this point. Since I pvp so much and don't have time for pve. I took a long break from the game, and pretty much just leveled with quests so I never built up a store of commendations. I thought it would be okay to ask during the ready phase of the fl match.

I figured I could get to where I want to go by politely asking. What's the harm right? Apparently even daring to ask means you're "entitled" and should instantly be judged in a negative light somehow.

Lol. Some people just need to chill out.

This game ain't that difficult to play and it doesn't take much skill to be "good." People play to have a good time. Be friendly. And if I could, I'd give commendations out to every single person I play with every single time. In fact, if I could I'd stand on the etherite in limsa and just rain it on passerby cuz I think everyone should get some love just for supporting this game.

You know, I bet this smug attitude some pvpers (and some gamers in general) have as if being good at PVP in an mmo actually means something, as if it somehow makes them special, as if the game even has a high skillcap (as opposed to just a high demand for time), I bet this is what drives so many people away from pvp in the first place. At least it isn't as bad as League of Legends. At least not yet anyways.

And you know what? Wasn't frontlines supposed to be the "casual" pvp area? The place where newbies can get their feet wet in pvp? Wasn't that why morale is turned off, there are no team composition requirements, and its a 3-way instead of a balanced 2 faction fight?

So relax.

So people chased down kills instead of capping or defending a node. So they couldn't take the time to maneuver out of a sandwich. Or they randomly roam by their lonesome and get killed.

So what? It's all good.

Why?

Because those unskilled players is what this game mode was MADE for.

"Earn" a commendation... that's ridiculous. There's no way to decide objectively who should get the commendation out of the 7 in your party. So I just randomly pick most of the time or whoever is still there or the healer cuz they're rare and it's my way of patting them on the back.

And yes, again, if someone asked I'd just give the commendation to him or her. Even if he or she wasn't the "best." Cuz who cares about being the "best" or being "good"? It's an effin game. It should be about fun. Fun for me. Fun for you. Fun for everyone. That's why I want to be a mentor and help the newbs through some content. Cuz that's what this game, and all games imo, is about. Fun exploring, experiencing, sharing and learning new stuff - not rating/judging/measuring yourself or having others rate or measure or judge you. There's already too much of that un-fun stuff going on in life.

So when I ask for a commendation. It's just a request bro. You can do it if you're a chill dude, or not if you're being a hardass for no reason. If you do, I'll gladly return the favor. If not, I don't mind handing it to the guy or gal who chased that AST half way across seal rock to his or her death. Cuz in my mind, it don't make a difference who gets a stupid commendation. It doesn't upset any reward system. It doesn't break anything in the game. So if someone, could be someone's brother or sister, someone's young niece or nephew, or anyone no matter what their age, sex, creed, or SKILL LEVEL, asks for a commendation so he or she can get mentor roulette or that fat chocobo? Here ya go honey. I'd be happy to help you get 1 step closer to that cute fat bird.

"Earn" a commendation...pfffft... What childish, egotistical, vain, self-absorbed nonsense. How narrow-minded you must be to ask a person, whom you've never met in real life, whom you don't even know, to "earn" a stupid commendation by performing tasks up to your standards.

I wonder those who are so stingy with their commendations, would they ask "what did you do to earn the commendation you're asking for?" if they could see the person who is asking it. The real person. Could be an elderly grandma for all you know. Could be anybody. That's the point. Could be anyone from any background and that person could play at a number of different skill levels. That person could be impaired. Did you ever stop to think about that? Could be colorblind - that's why there's a colorblind mode option. Could be missing an index finger. Kinda hard hitting those L/R shoulder buttons or left clicking with only a middle finger. Might slow ya down a bit. Could be any number of reasons why this person doesn't measure up to your standards of skilled play.

Take a bigger view. If this game was designed so that only the skilled and disciplined would be rewarded then I doubt it would have very many players. And with that in mind, with the thought that the reality of the game is that you will play with unskilled players, that they have as much a right as you to have fun in this game, chill the heck out. FFXIV is not a strict meritocracy. It was never intended to be one.

Anyway. This will be the last time I bring something like this up, cuz I feel too much negativity just cropping up for no reason. Entitlement... heh... hilarious...

If there's already a GC for those who are impaired, colorblind, missing fingers, or just mentally slow, I'd like to join... I'd rather play with some people with real perspective and who know what real challenges are... and it ain't getting a dozen kills in seal rock, or ex primals or raid... lord almighty...

hardcore pvper here, after looking at your match performance it is pretty clear you are pretty new to pvp, the reasons are arnt getting comms are as follows

1: your stats are very poor when compared to what people of the same job can achieve
2: as said before, commendations are not nearly as important as getting back in the queue, that is a side effect of how the queues are for FL
3: asking/beggin for commendations always carries a very common chance of people NOT commending you, simply because you asked (plus it draws attention to your match performance)

in short, practise warrior more, play more FL matches, be polite, dont ask for commendations

Hi, best way to farm commendations is not to do PvP....

Here are a few ways to get a lot of commendations;

1- The most important one... DO NOT make a "Give me commend plx" macro. I would never give commend to someone asking it, I'm sure many are like me in that sense.
2- Farm them in guildhest, especially the first two ones. You just need to hold a bit of aggro and it's done... For the first one, go PLD, flash spam, for the second one, go kamikaze-burn it. It's confirmed to be around 10 commendations per hour, minimum. around 30 if lucky...
3- Go super start aggro stealer tank to Castrum Meridianum, take all mobs and make the other tank feel useless (Even if it's doing more damage than you, probably). Then enjoy commends.
4- Try to become the hero of the battle. Reserve your holmgang, HG or LD for the worst moment, wait for healers to die, for DPS to die, when the boss is 1% you use one of these and, hey, you get all commends even if you were useless during the other 99% of the battle.

5- Extra tip; Making a "Hello everyone!" and "Goodbye thanks!" MACRO buffs your chances to get a commend by 50%... It's sad, but, it's like that. Being quiet won't give you one, but directly asking for one neither, so, the indirect way to ask for a commendation is to use a hello-goodbye macro. Try to not make obvious it's a macro (Adding a moogle or so), because some people who sense it won't give you commend neither.

Don't ask for comms. Be good and you'll get it. When I'm in there I like to shot call and I get comms pretty regularly.

You have to do something to stand out if you want comms.

People get upset because this has been out for a long time and people still don't understand basics like not attacking a low node, not chasing, not going solo.

It's frustrating as all hell to lose because of stupidity. Especially when all they have to do is read their chat log.

xxczx/Dark Falz pretty much touched on everything that I would've said (shocker).

I believe you started out on Flames. We've had some matches together. To be honest, your performance didn't stand out to me from any of the other baby Flames. My commend priority tends to be a great healer-> great tanks (and those are few and far between on Aether Flames)-> DPS that has the best k/d ratio on the party.
