Lots of good ideas here but I was curious about those who talked about RDM or mentioned it being a healer class that also melees.
How would you work around things like Ifrit Extreme, Searing Wind?
I think RDM will be one of the harder ones since this game doesn't really get big into using debuffs during bosses. Most of the things I notice that would be helpful get resisted or their resistance builds up really quickly.
Demon Hunter with two crossbows. SE should learn with Blizzard how to make a good and funny class that use two different weapons or the same on their hands.

Theres alot to consider with that.... first... what sort of attacks would it do? and dont forget, it will get a cast timer, since BRD and MCH have a timer, that changes its animations.... and saying they need to look at outside companies for jobs? Final Fantasy has tons and tons of jobs...
Blizzard never made a bad class. On every franchise from them Wow/Diablo have good class. There is nothing wrong about copy the other good ideas from other MMOs or games.Theres alot to consider with that.... first... what sort of attacks would it do? and dont forget, it will get a cast timer, since BRD and MCH have a timer, that changes its animations.... and saying they need to look at outside companies for jobs? A similar class like the dh from diablo and the priest from Wow sounds a good idea. Also many people that plays FF XIV doesn't are real fans of final fantasy franchises. But we loved FF XIV MMO.

Well, outside of Dancer (a utility, debuff, reverse bard, DPS), Chemist (a Magiteck enhanced Healer from Garlemald), and Red/Blue mages (a primarily DPS, with a CD for emergency healing): I would really like to see Samurai to fill out the need for more tank classes. I really think it would be interesting to have a class that has the ability to decide if it wants to be a tank or a DPS (let's call them "forms"). And, then later on, split into those two paths when they reach lv. 30 where the DPS job gets an second sword, lower damage per hit, a second auto attack, limited options for heavy armor, higher skill speed, and focuses purely on DPS. And, the tank job does drastically higher damage per attack, drastically lowered skill speed, no auto attacks, pets for OT (like the three line volley Nobunaga was famous for) and MT positions (two lion-dogs), a great set utility skills for OT and MT positions, a fan, a block-to-counter attack skill, and a very limited number of offensive skill because a master will finish a battle in one blow or something.
They might be a bit to powerful if they're like that, but it's just a suggestion.

Hmmm...
Time Mage healer, or maybe DPS, wielding a pocket watch.
Spell Fencer tank, using Phantom Weapon to generate additional enmity on a marked target.
And still looking forward to the classic Blue and Red mages, of course.

Even if they take those classes from wow and diablo, they have to be made to fit the FF XIV battle system and lore... so they arent even the same class that you know them as at that point... and reguardless if anyone is a fan of the series, they would add jobs from their previous games that are popular (WHM, WAR, BLM, SMN, PLD... etc) and have been around since the begining of the series. not mention they can take jobs from their last MMO FFXI, and adapt them to fit the FFXIV system. just saying.Blizzard never made a bad class. I used to main WHM (and it's still my second highest geared job), then went SMN and finally settled on BRD so it's not surprising that I'd choose Dancer above anything else, even if it were a Support DPS like BRD but on mellee range or a healer with some debuffs thrown in. The point is, FF as a series already has a lot of classes that can be worked into FF to look to other games for inspiration. Even Astrologian has SOME history within the series (being kiiind of a Time Mage, and Orran's job class in FFT) and the base classes like Conjurer and Arcanist show up on Bravely Default (with Astrologian showing up in Bravely Second).
Getting back on track, I'd love to see RDM playing like a Spell Fencer, fusing magic with their weaponskills since, as much as I'd love to, I don't see a true hybrid class like the RDM get much use at end-game. Of course, if they can make a RDM true to it's FF roots while making it viable for end-game, I'd have a hard time deciding if I want to main it or DNC...

yoshi p said evenaulty all ffxi job will come to ffxiv
