Lag, obstruction of crafting orbs, obstruction of NPCs, NPCs not rendering or taking a long time to render due to massive number of characters and chocobos around them, there are probably more but that's all I can think of this second.I agree, aside from lag concerns, there is no argument. All they have is their personal preference for what they do or do not want to see in town. If lag is an actual concern, then I can somewhat understand if there is no work around for it, but I'm not convinced it is a concern, and I think those who say that is are just speculating.

I would say possible lag weight more than save some seconds of walking timeI agree, aside from lag concerns, there is no argument. I've seen it before in other games. Stand around in Stormwind for a bit in World of Warcraft and you'll know what I mean.I agree, aside from lag concerns, there is no argument. Rise Against - TorchesThe angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

um, something people have also overlooked.
for those who dont have the latest graphics cards, 5+ chocobo's in a group would place a strain on peoples graphics cards as well.
i've seen people who have issues with gpu lag just from busy periods in the busy areas. add birds into the rendering its going to place a heavier load on the gpu requiring upgrades. some people will just refuse to.
there is also a lag issue. for those who live in england for example, the lag would be extreme.
IMO, SE should have placed the bird rental station outside the main gates of the cities. this would have allowed people to call a rental bird without this "teleportation" bit inbetween
I agree with you to some extent even though WoWs reasonings for having that many mounts was because the game only has like 10 million players. Anyways as I said in current towns it wouldn't work too well but the current towns lack the Final Fantasy flare that you would experience in any other FF game. Limsa is the only one to me that even touches base on that in the least. I hope they consider revamping the towns and expanding them outwards and giving us more space for multiple reasons. That would allow player housing similar to that of EQ2 if they go that route and allow us to ride the mounts in town. I personally only experience any sort of lag in Uldah and that is because majority of the players are either sitting there crafting, talking or selling stuff from their bazaars all in a small concentrated area.Oh I am so incredibly sorry. Allow me to correct myself. Throw Stormwind, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, and Undercity on the list too. Please forgive me for not spending additional minutes of my life going through screenshots of the cities to find one more suitable for your tastes. The last time I saw Stormwind, the ENTIRE front four or five blocks were completely packed with mounts. I could not see jack shit. I couldn't even see half the mounts except for the larger ones because there were mounts on the mounts.
Plus, given the fact that currently in this game there's nothing but chocobos (and personally I hope it stays that way when it comes to land mounts), that's even more of a reason not to have chocobos in towns. Every single person will have the same bird. Pointless.
Plus there is one major underlying fact, the city lags enough without them. Multiply the amount of entities on the screen by almost 2 when you throw chocobos into the mix. Even more lag. Don't need that.
So I say again I would like to have mounts in town assuming the cities were made bigger when they rework the zones. But I agree it wouldn't work as well in the current towns and they have not said anything of changing the towns. Wishfull thinking.

expanding the towns?
easiest way to do this would be to open up the 3rd layer and whack the company hall up there. or hell, even put it on the second level of uldah.
i dont understand why we have to have the market wards, the grand company and that other place for the storyline missions all crammed into the same stupid archway.
thats what pisses me off the most about the game, the same stuff shoved into 1 "teleport" location.
its a cheap COP-OUT from having to do any real work. alot of what SE is putting is feels like half hearted attempts with no real thought to how it'll impact things like how people will move around the city and so on
i mean jesus SE, is it so hard to open up another patch of town or make use of an empty chamber already there? or hell, even ADD a room to a relatively unused part of the city.
how often do you see people near the weaver guild? unless your a weaver and need to buy items/get guild support, its deserted, RELOCATE THE GRAND COMPANY OVER THAT PART OF UL'DAH!
make people spread themselfs out a little more. it would also help congestion in terms of lag

You probably didn't take a look at my lodestone before making that assumption. I've been playing since early closed beta.
When the game was that crowded, I could hardly craft. I could not craft without R0ing with all the people around. In fact, it wasn't up until November that the R0ing stopped. Half of that was probably due to the fact that the UI and server configuration sucked, but the game could not handle that many people, and I was by far not the only one to experience that issue.
I would imagine if that many people were to play again the R0 problem would happen less since they made many upgrades to the server and its hardware; however, it does not stop the fact that your computer and the connection itself has to render all of those entities that appear on the screen. Chocobos in towns will make that lag worse.
"The only problems we had were the repair NPCs not loading fast enough or doors would take 2 mins to open which were later fixed". No, the doors may have been fixed in some cases, but the NPCs have taken up to 5 minutes to load in a crowded area when the connection was not so good. That happened a couple of days ago. You cannot say "that's the only problem" like it's a trivial thing. That's enough to make a good chunk of new players quit the game. If the game continues to have that many lag problems, it's not going to get anywhere. Throwing more entities in the cities such as chocobos for the players is just going to make it worse.

Yoshi already stated they are making action for pc's to move faster in town.
