I would kill allllllllll the lalafells for it. But, I believe thats meant to be the Korean/Chinese version of the Thavnarian buster (Aren't the Countries mentioned above a bit picky about revealing clothing?) Course I could be wrong. It'd be a bit unfair if EU/NA got both of the unique costumes while Korea and China got one.

China is one patch behind EU/NA in the patch cycle. They don't even have 3.1 until the 15th of January I think.

Japan uses the same 12 year animal zodiac as China, but they celebrate new year's day based on the Gregorian calendar along with the West. It's kind of a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, and Western traditions.

Chinese New Year is based on an older Chinese lunar calendar, so they celebrate New Years at different times each year, usually late January or early February.

Either SE is being generous to Chinese players by crafting an alternate New Year event for them, or they might actually be required to honor Chinese holidays by government censors. I'm not sure which.

Also interesting, "Little Ladies Day" in FFXIV is a reference to the real Japanese Girl's Day holiday on March 3rd. "The Rising", which celebrates the anniversary of the game while commemorating the "lives lost in the calamity" is also roughly around the time of Japanese Obon, a time for remembering the deceased while celebrating with family.

So the game has a common mixture of holidays that are normally observed in Japan, including western Christmas, Valentines, and Halloween.
