They pay per hour, so "paying the same subscription fee" would depend on how much one plays.

We likely pay far more, from what I've heard they have to play 150 hours a month to match the $15 we pay. Even when Heavensward launched and I freed up my week completely I was unable to reach 150 hours, or even close. But yeah, if it was on the cash shop we'd be getting the shitty end of the deal, which is Quesse's point I believe.

you couldn't? I exceed it on a pretty regular basis, to be fair I work at home and sometimes do other stuff while i stay logged on, but 5 hours a day x 30 days a month thats not hard to hit at all, at least for me
