im pretty sure after 17years of loving Final Fantasy if they fresh started this game i'd probably never touch a SE or Final Fantasy game again ... i'd be pissed! a years worth of game play almost all 50s and all the hard work to get over 525 different achievements thus far.. really why would anyone wanna start over?
You can't start over a released mmo, it would be suicide.
The overwhelming majority of the current playerbase would quit, it would tarnish people's faith in the dev team, and it would always be in the back of people's mind if they will do it again if it is "deemed needed".
Alot of people put in alot of work to get where they are, even if they love the game I cannot see anyone willing to start over if SE screwed us over that much.
That and people complain about the markets being overpriced, everything is honestly dirt cheap unless you go for +3 stuff at endgame. With repeatable company quest you can also buy most stuff you need from companys. You can easily pull in a ton of money with +3 mats as well (easily 300k-1million gil a day if you go at it for several hours), especially if they are for endgame items.
People survived in XI with the JP players having a year lead, those waiting on PS3 or for the game to improve will survive as well.
faillogic/10, try again. It's not the same because the dev team decided to re-balance the leve system, which is a farcry from your OHNOESEXPLOIT!!!11!! claim. By your logic, every gamer who's ever played a game that has ongoing balance/adjustment throughout its lifetime was exploiting.
If they reset as they are so many players would quit. It'd be an incredibly stupid thing to do.
I think they really are focused on new console sales and untapped markets (i.e. china)
That is where they will break even on this game. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a character wipe after stating they wouldn't, after all, calming free2play community is quite a bit different that doing what is ultimately best for your share holders.
If they perceived some reason why it was desirable financially, or just in the best interest of the game when they "re-release" it, then they will, and that will be that. There may be some excuse produced such as "we had no choice because of fundamental game design changes" or "unrecoverable database corruption" or who knows, but they would do it.
The community for this game is quite small, and they probably think of it as damaged goods anyway, so outraging this audience is negligible in the grand scheme of things, when you look at the big picture. In other words, I don't think retaining the current audience is a core goal or strategy.
China should be left untapped. It's such a garbage country.
This advantage we have now is at the costs of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months consumed from our one and only oh so important irreplaceable human mortal life.I've been thinking... (so have everyone here so far too) ...after I've been reading through the grips and complaints (which could be critical feed back), hasn't everyone considered whether they'd continue playing?
When the PS3 version is released and all is said and done, you'll have to start paying to play. What was logged in my mind since BETA, that everyone will have a fresh start on its global release (not like FFxi had happen).
Do you think you'll begin from the beggining and if so, will you pay to keep playing?
It's Free to Play now and we have the advantage over those who haven't bought FFxiv... if fact, we had an advantage that cost us nothing.
Think about it, will SE bump us down to Rank 1 again? Please be serious about your post, thank you!
XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
^ This.
If it weren't for my crafting levels and hard-to-reach aetherial crystal teleports, I would definitely re-roll though and start fresh though.
