Main Scenario Roulette just now.

End up in Castrum Meriandum. This Dark Knight tank proceeds to pull everything and things are all fine up until the hallway before the final room where all the colossus are. He starts screaming at the DPS, something like 'go away, DPS are dumb, after 3 years they still don't figure out to stay at cannons', nevermind the fact that it's entirely possible to sneak past the majority of enemies in that room and that almost everything disappears once you deal with the mechanic in that room. So he proceeds to pull almost everything in that room all the way back to the cannons in the hallway. Then we all went to the cannons in that room to shoot down the airship, and he starts screaming at the DPS again, like suddenly he wanted everyone to attack the remaining colossus that appeared like those few seconds of attacking were so precious to him. The other tank defended the party, then he launched into a 'lolWAR' rant against him.

It is really such a completely unnecessary thing to get upset over, in such an easy dungeon and especially when at the actual boss fight, everyone pretty much did that the speedrun way properly.

I just felt like I needed to vent since that was my first really bad experience with a tank, which was probably an inevitable thing considering I've only been playing for half a year and have had a pleasant experience with pretty much all my DFs until now. Thankfully the douche isn't in my server.

Had a couple of interesting roulettes yesterday...

For leveling roulette, I got Cutter's Cry. First thing I notice is the tank doesn't put his tank stance on when he goes to pull. Second, he's still a gladiator - not a paladin. Bad feeling begins... I check everyone's gear. I'm a 54 bard synced down to 40. Everyone else is at/around that level except the tank, who's synced down to 40 as well but wearing a piece of 44 gear.

I asked if he had his job crystal. He said no, not yet, in "say" rather than party chat. Bad feeling confirmed... I knew from that point that dps/scholar/Eos would be taking aggro for the entire dungeon. From the very first pull, hate was all over the party. The ninja caught it. The healer caught it. Eos caught it. And no amount of quelling strikes was going to keep hate off me if I was going to dps properly.

After the first floor, the ninja asked the tank to turn Shield Oath on. I replied he couldn't because he didn't have his job crystal. "Oh," he replies. "Yeah, we're the tanks now," I said. The gladiator spoke up in "say" again, owned up to being as good as a newbie, and said he didn't know what else to do beside flash a lot. I told him when he left the dungeon he should go to Gridania, start a conjurer, get it to 15, then go back to the Gladiator hall and pick up his level 30 Paladin quest from the receptionist there.

So we keep going...I accept my role as tank-bard and go all out. Eos and the scholar kept me healed. Occasionally the tank...tanked...and I did try to let him, switching targets, using Quelling, but long story short I tanked the second and third bosses pretty much exclusively and we got through it. I told him again, if he was going to be an effective tank, he needs his job crystal and I wasn't saying it to be mean as I have all three tanks maxed, and if he forgot what I told him, google Paladin job quest. He asked "what do I do again?" So I told him again, including tips on how to power-level CNJ. And hopefully he'll do it but hey! We got through it, and I got two comms that I'm pretty sure were the SCH and NIN.

I really hope the tank commed that long-suffering SCH; I know I did.

Not long after, I registered for level 50 roulette on MCH, got Snowpeak, and the tank and healer were both new. The tank (DRK) tried to do the standard big pull on the way to the first gate and we wiped pretty fast. "Okay, smaller pulls!" the DRK said, unfazed, and the healer said yes thanks. I think they must have been a fresh 50 because she had trouble healing the whole run. She died during the first boss, summoner raised her, I died because we didn't get adds fast enough, summoner raised me, healer died again...we cleared with the healer dead but cheering us on! I coached the tank on his pulls from then on out, not because of him but because there was no way the healer could handle some of those pulls.

Snowpeak, typically a 20 minute run, took us nearly an hour. But hey! Everyone was good to each other even during wipes, we got the clear, and yay for another comm. I've had worse Snowpeak runs. -_- (One memorable occasion included three wipes at Fenrir and a dps who switched her internet from wireless to her phone's hotspot bc it was better.)

Went in Pharos HM as WHM yesterday. Had a DRG in mostly i185 dungeon gear try and tell me off after we wiped to the final boss twice, due to grey bombs blowing us up. I whipped up a quick "Grey Bombs <se.1>" macro up to use once grey bombs were out so we they wouldn't tunnel vision for a third time. I use it on the first grey bomb + blue bomb adds and the DRG gets pissy and says "I don't need your condescending sounds ty". I used it again immediately once the 2 grey bomb + 2 blue bombs and sure enough we cleared that time.

Was watching the DRG too during the double grey bombs, I don't remember Ring of Thorn spam being apart of their single target rotation x_x

Fun story:

I did a MSQ roulette one time and we got Praetorium. Usually MSQ roulette is pretty boring (because you know, I've done both dungeons a million times...), and it was... until the end.

Just before the last boss, this one SMN in our group suddenly yelled something like "GO CHICKEN NUGGET" and summoned his Titan-Egi and sent it in to tank Ultima. |D The chicken nugget tanked it the entire time, then Lahabrea afterwards. It was glorious.

Also, I did my level 50 roulette last night and ended up with a DRK who had a bunch of amazing fun chat macros. XD They taught me that I can highlight and copy/paste chat (seriously, been playing since August and hadn't figured this out, my mind was blown) and told me to go ahead and copy the macros so now I have a bunch of amazing fun chat macros. 8D

My most recent run. Cutter's Cry on a NIN alt. Run was going sorta okay, until after first boss.

For some reason or another, the tank was unaware of the Healer Kiting method and tried grabbing the adds. I don't know why I was expecting the following conversation to be a civil explanation of said method, but... well...

Healer: What are you, a retard or just new?

My Thoughts: Oh Sweet, Salty Hydaelyn no...

What happened next until the second boss was basically a pissing contest between healer and tank. Tank took the comment poorly (and for good reason), but he wasn't a bad tank. Unfortunately...

Tank was vote-kicked by healer and the other DPS after the 2nd boss... and then vote abandoned when a new tank didn't show up for like two minutes.

Edit: Decided to try Cutter's again. Got the same tank, but much better people. There were a few deaths, but everyone was cool about it. Worlds better than the last one for me and the tank.

It's weird seeing both the worst and best in humanity within the span of an hour.

A3 with an FC mate. Soon we notice that the monk, the dark knight and both healers are from an FC living in our neighborhood.
Later, Ifrit HM via trial roulette. I notice the scholar being a member of my own FC (which has only seven active members) who went there via roulette as well - so funny coincidences

60 Roulette. Ended up in Neverreap.

Both DPS were new to the dungeon. It went quite well, the notable part was that when we reached the last boss, the tank suggested a drinking game: Take a shot for how many times we all get tossed into the air like ragdolls.

We quickly decided all of us would have to take a visit to the emergency room if we actually did so.

(Also the poor Black Mage is probably scarred for life.)

A tiny PSA on that - FFXIV is actually highly efficient on data use! I go through more browsing the web. I have a good connection, but sometimes, it gets extremely laggy or even cuts out for a few hours. In those times, I've started switching to 4G - I don't notice any lag, and the last time I used it, I went through only 3.3 MB in an hour of dungeons. I have a friend that regularly uses 4G to escape his family using netflix. It's not as crazy as it sounds!

At Neverreap both the BLM and the DRG had a dex ring. The didn't come together. The BLM had his by accident, he didn't notice until I mentioned it and then changed to the right one. The DRG had turned in or trashed her old ring by accident while making space for crafting stuff and was using the dex one until she could get the Alex normal ring.

...What are the chances of all this happening? XD
