Personally, when WoW added the motorcycle- that was a huge turnoff for me... it wreaked of teen wannabeness. I had a bike for years...several. I like them.. I just think they don't fit in with the feel of the game.

Large Robots with Lasers? Yes. Mechs with Blasters? Yes. Heat Seeking missiles? Yes. Floating gunships with Flamethrowers? Yes. Automated Turrets? Yes. Drill robots? Yes. Floating Iron Claws? Yes. Bikes? No!
Yeah, uhm...if you say so ._.'

I know... tons of tech stuff in the game... generally being destroyed by us.... but with chocobos and horses - motorcycles? If that kind of transportation is available, we should have gas stations and highways.... but what ends up happening is people zooming around forests and other places (city sidewalks) on motorcycles and it looks ridiculous, imo.
If this was more of a FFVII setting with that kind of infrastructure, I would be all over it... but in the current world- I just think it would be incredibly cheesy. Again, just my opinion.
Maybe if they introduced a large futuristic city, these could be a locality specific way to get around via "porters"? That might be a neat way to introduce it appropriately.

You say it like we don't already have mounts that deviate from the worlds so called "Aesthetic" (because it doesn't have one, "Final fantasy?".) We use magiteks, beastkin like the goblins have steam powered and possibly fuel engines robots and mechs (that we can also have) and bikes are....you know what, goblins are my exact response to these apparent complaints. There is absolutely NO reason to not have bikes in this game.I know... tons of tech stuff in the game... generally being destroyed by us.... but with chocobos and horses - motorcycles? Goblins.

...and that is fine... maybe we should have a goblin speedway... I am pretty sure WoW has that. I am not particularly in love with the WoW goblin aesthetic, but it seems to be what you are leaning toward... so sure, goblin highways, motorcycles, and maybe a license plate that says "PWN"... enjoy. I'll pass. I think there are better ways to integrate something into the game through the implementation that wouldn't be so...cheesy.
Maybe I can get an Allagan time jumper- that is just the Back to the Future Delorean? It certainly looks Allagan.
My response is "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

Wow, extremist much? If I asked for magiteks a long time ago you'd most likely respond with, "Oh, lets add a futuristic city and laser swords with galactic wars like gundam while we're at it!"....lol yeah srry, cant get over the fact that you said goblin highway, what even. Anyways, who'd talking about WoW? Is this Wow? No, its FFXIV and we have goblins who make fuel engine machines. So again, Goblins.
Cheesy...I wonder if you even played half of FFXIVs content. Most of it is cheesy fan service. The Gold Saucer is the cheesiest thing I seen ever, yet people love it, me included. Hildabrand, Lightning event, dragonquest, FF6 music on a magitek mount, special characters from other final fantasy games in the main story line. Yeah, cheesiness is not an issue in this game.
Cheese, it's not the issue, It's the flavor. <Troll Face>Wow, extremist much? If you want to explain it away with Goblin tech that's fine, as long as the bike reflects the goblin aesthetic. If it looks like something from FF7, then my answer would remain no.Wow, extremist much? To other people in the thread: If your statement is Allagan tech, who would be the driving mind behind it? Cid? He was having some issues in figuring out how to open doors in CT, let alone wrapping his mind around complex Allagan machinery.
You can say Garlean Tech... As much as it pains me to say, I suppose it could be the Garlean counter to the Mana Cutter. Still wouldn't like it though.. =P
