How is it in any way unreasonable to want a quest through which to obtain a reward?

I'm sick of everything in the game being handed to us. The point of a game is to have something to do. If there is nothing to earn there is no sense of progress. Gaining the ability to use the airships or the chocobos is a sign of advancement and a much need goal to achieve. This game has absolutely no goal for users to achieve accept hitting level 50. An MMO needs more things to work towards than the next level, the next dungeon, and the next piece of armour. It's not supposed to be solely about getting stronger.

The FFXIV playerbase has a reputation for wanting everything without effort. It's the reason everything is dumbed down more and more with every patch. It's no surprise that people expected this content to be handed to them too. The only way to make this playerbase happy is to give everyone maxed out characters when they start the game and to have all the best loot on tap from NPCs for 1 gil each. These kind of players are normally a minority in MMOs, but because 95% of people quit FFXIV this lot currently form the majority. Players who want challenge have gone elsewhere.

Just my two cents here, when personal chocobos were added to FFXI, didn't it take 20+ RL days for it to mature? I did not like that, I hope that isn't what the arguing in this thread is over, and the 6 hour chocobo liscense quest... not so much fun either. I am all for content in any form, but there are just some things that irritate rather than entertain.

You have to do company quests to obtain the seals to get a chocobo issuance, so there are many quests involved in getting a personal chocobo, just none specific to the chocobo. It would be better if you had to do a quest after going to turn in your issuance tho . . . .

I would like an explanation of how all the chocobos suddenly became well enough to give out or rent away....

Man, it's gotta be pretty tough for some of you to walk around, with all that sand jammed up there.

Personally I'm overjoyed about both announcements, looks great, can't wait to be riding around on stuff!

For those who want a harder quest: do it yourself. Put in a personal challenge. I do that all the time. Make up your own quest that you have to do. Tell your friends about it. Lore isn't just restricted to what some Dev comes up with.

Personally, I'm on a quest right now to kill as many very-high level mobs as I can; and I won't use my new Iron Longsword +2 until I've proven that I'm worthy of it.

I'm glad I saved my company seals. When I started getting them I started thinking, "These will probably be usefull somewhere down the line."

Indeed, those two instances of wait-content is not what I am a fan of and would rather see quests involved that are intriguing and adds atmosphere to the game world.

I wanna say no body wants that, but it wouldn't be true.. I do not want that. I want to do a quest, just the regular kind, from which I am granted a chocobo and it is explained to me why I suddenly am able to have one when I have repeatedly be told its not possible.

The idea of just buying a chocobo from the Grand Company is lame. It offers no depth and no explanation. Yes it will require a little effort, but only in the sense that you will have to wait longer for one of your ranks rather than earn your chocobo.

That'd be fair to say, but if you go on WoW and ask people what the story is about, about 90% of the community will say, "Who cares?".

I'm not here to participate in a fight about WoW, it is the biggest MMO because it's the easiest MMO. I personally would not like FFXIV to follow in WoWs footsteps. You don't need 4 million fake subscriptions to make money on an MMO.

but 4 million is good. SE wants money not YOU to be happy.

Trust me SE is following WoW very very closely. Just look at the content being added, the terms being used.

What you want is irrelevant to what works and what SE ia aiming for.
