I feel like the WAR tank in my SMA ex roulette yesterday was resentful about me DPSing. We had a DRG and BRD for DPS, with me on SCH. I like to swiftcast shadow flare when the tank stops, miasma 2, switch out of cleric to heal them, then go back to put my dots up if things look safe. This tank though..
He was the kind to stop until the mobs got 25-50% of HP down, then decide he really should continue running and grab more mobs. I feel like he was purposefully not using CDs, especially on the bosses, and watched him stand in some non-lethal AoEs. DPS was out of TP / I was dangerous low on MP? Perfect time to pull our half-dead group to the next!! Our DRG died on one pull because he decided to chill in an AoE that one shotted him, but I didn't have swiftcast up so he respawned to run back.. tank pulled next group as soon as the DRG got to us, even though our pack wasn't dead.
I halfway expected him to pull alllllll the things to the honeycomb, but his pulls there were a bit erratic, so I spent more time healing and barely added to the DPS. He didn't say a word all dungeon, and left immediately.

Same.....same....
Also when I miss the tank with collective unconscious by a hair while trying to also get the def buff on the DPS too.... and they just will NOT get the hell in one gaddamn quarter of a step. :|
Seriously, they're so close they have a glowing bubble pressed against their face and burning their retnas. :|
This has happened, so many times...
I wish I could give them that gif's expression, as I stare at them from my bubble....

Helped a friend complete his relic-step 2.
And there comes the Vault. I was as a monk, my friend as whm. As early as first boss, I take a quick look at the SMN's gear, as I found we were taking quite long to murder the first few packs of mobs. Imagine my surprise when I realized the SMN had all jewels VIT. So of course we tried to chat with her. No answer.
Everything goes quite fine, with both the tank and I compensating somehow.
And we reach the last boss. We were soooo slow at killing the boss with the summoner doing like 60% of the average damage she should be doing. So we try again to chat, and then she answers that she didn't know about SMN's main stat being "Intel".. Okaaay. "Do you have any Intel jewels in your inventory ? or even crit/ SS will do" - Nope -
She was new to the game obviously, and it was her first time running this dungeon as well. She died in every try we did (4 in total), tank, the healer and I being the only ones left everytime. We finally cleared it. After 50minutes.
Anyway, I find it really absurd that NOBODY told her about that before.
Now she knows at least ^^

Playing Devil's advocate a bit here, but I sympathize when Tanks move stuff out of bubbles or ground based AoE's. Sometimes unavoidable or outright necessary.
Avoiding enemy AoE's means that they have to move position, but they also can't turn the mobs too far (cuz they screw up melee positioning) or towards the party (cuz they will feed the group enemy AoE's). So, the only real option is to continually sidestep/backstep/shuffle. Personally, I try to stay within the AoE's as much as I can, but eventually you're gonna slowly shift out of them, because turning the whole mob around when you reach the rim is not an option.
Further, tightly packed groups of mobs push each other around. Unlike player hitboxes, enemy hitboxes do not overlap. Instead they shove up against one another until they settle into position. Tanks have to micro adjust their position in relation to those movements to ensure every mob gets hit by enmity AoE's and, more importantly, is reachable by a combo attack (enemies that get shoved to the rear sometimes fall outside of the Tank's range. No hit = no enmity). Wars in particular have the extra worry of keeping mobs facing their front when they use Raw Intuition, and a constant steady backstep is unavoidable to keep mobs off your flanks.
For Tanks, if you have to chose between holding position and taking more dmg or losing enmity over moving a mob out of a ground based AoE/Bubble (especially if the healer is already focusing on Dps rather than healing), they're gonna move. DoT potency is not worth the Tank's life or enmity, especially when the Tank is the first player to get yelled at whenever anything goes wrong, regardless of the situation.
That being said... any Tank that is only using one def CD (especially a weak one like Fracture) for 3 groups of mobs is a moron, and the logic of proper positioning does not apply. I, myself, had a Drk tank Dusk Vigil last night who barely used any buffs and was frequently dropping Grit. I have absolutely no problems with Stance Dancing to optimize Mp and Dps as a tank, but if you're going to do it you should at least be using buffs to compensate for the increase in damage. I wanted smack that little lala for being a twat.
I had a run in Wanderer's Palace Hard for my tomestone grinding for my relic. Had a group that wasn't new, but kept ignoring mechanics. We wiped on the first boss because people suddenly decided to burn the boss and ignore the spears. Next boss we wiped because no one would step in the magic circles, thus the boss gained insane damage buffs. Also had the tank yelling at me for not healing him, despite the fact that I got turned into a frog >.>
Ate the penalty.

So I was doing my high level roulette and got Amdapor HM. First thing that happens? Tank runs out of Protect. Okay. He pulls everything up to the first plant and I start to heal him (no chance to DPS at all since his HP is dropping rapidly) and I even attempted to recast protect but I kept getting hit.
Next thing I know he pulls everything up to and AFTER the roots then pulls them back to get the debuff from said roots... Divine Seal + Presence of Mind Cure II (+ he had Regen on too) could not keep him alive. My Cure II spells just prolonged the inevitable wipe. After we wiped I joked and said "So you gunna wait for Protect this time?" Little did I know that he was already blazing a path back to the mobs. And then... he quit. This was only like 3 minutes in so we has to wait before we could kick. After waiting 10 minutes though, I left...
Benediction is not Instant. FIN.

Got a story somewhat similiar to Februs'.
Rolled levelling roulette and got into Aery with a DK, a monk and a bard. I was the WHM. First thing that comes out of the tank's mouth is "Am I supposed to mob this group? All of them?". Warning signs go off like christmas lights in my head. The tank apologizes profusely for not knowing the dungeon, and says " I've never done Aery." which I think is bull because he had a hive weapon and I'm fairly sure you need to have completed story quest HW to even get into RavEx?
Things were shaky for the duration of the run. We had to run him through how to tank, how mob, where to mob...etc etc. Somehow we managed it until the final boss Nidhogg where we wiped twice because everyone forgot to release me from Sable Price. On the third run, we managed to make it all the until Estinien's shield part. Only to have the tank stand IN FRONT of Estinien after and blasted him with full force of Nidhogg's attack. Estinien dies. We die next.
Monk ragequits at this point, tank apologizes profusely again. We get a new DPS and completed the dungeon.
I guess it wasn't so much of a horror story as a "WTH was that all about" run, but at the end of it all, I had a good chuckle about it.

DF Ultima's Bane. Party was me (WHM), SCH, PLD, WAR, BRD, BLM, BLM, SMN.
Bard didn't use Foe's Requiem one single time.
Bard died for plumes.
Bard died for Garuda.
Bard got hit by Titan and laser by the boss and died.
Bard died to Ifrit multiple times.
Bard was dead the overall fight.
Bard also didn't help soaking balls and we wiped 7 times because balls were colliding.
Add to this mess: a BLM casting Blizzard 2 at least 2 times/minute, for whatever reason; my co-healer, a SCH with an ilv80 Titan book and overall lv45 acessories and the fact that no one (save me and SMN) knew how to deal with the crashing airships (with the purple waves, just like A1 jump).
7 wipes. Did it with 20% echo + tank LB because the BLMs+BRD didn't help soaking balls and they collided every single time.
