I'm trying to level up Marauder right now for Mercy Stroke but its such a grind.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Cure is worthless outside of soloing if you don't have Bloodbath yet. PLD I mean, I think the majority of the player base would accept Aero over Cure...
PLD has Clemency... It's a way better heal that's also STR-based and gives a bonus self-heal when used on an ally. Why would you ever want cure?
Unless you stack EVERYTHING into mind and get the highest accessories and gear that a PLD can use (so basically the field commander set at lvl 60), you can push out 600-700 heals with cure. But this would be at the cost of thousands of hp from the loss of vit in the gear (as gear at lvl 50 is equivalent in vit and strength as the field commander set). Then to top it off, you lost out on a lot of strength as well, effectively making you pretty underwhelming at everything.
Since PLD gets no magic based weapon, the mind stat is basically linear in it's usefulness and essentially rises on a 1:1 ratio in healing with your mind stat. I think it's actually closer to 1.2:1, but yea... you get the point.

At 50, cure wasn't actually all that bad. I personally used it for FATEs and running dungeons. There were occasions where my entire party died on a boss except me and I managed to solo it the rest of the way by throwing up stoneskin when my HP got too low then convalesence and spam cure to get my HP back up to a safe level then spam riot blade to recover all the MP until my HP got too low again.
But now at 60 I can't say I'd ever use it. Our HP is so high now and cure hasn't increased at all, it's a drop in the bucket of what we have now and a mob will hit you for 3 times what a convalesence cure will do, and with the high HP, spamming stoneskin is far more MP efficient for a much greater effect. On top of that we have clemency for emergency heal situations.

i'd keep cure personally cuzz you never know when you'll get a healer that's dumber then a bucket of shrimp and dies during a raid duty trial whatever it's heals are small but better then nothing clemency helps but you only get rough 3 or 4 uses out of it before your mp is dry and when that healer dies it'll be you doing the heals however small if no one else can do it it still helps gen aggro from what i've seen and since you don't need to run around as much as the dps you can stay stationary for the most part holding aggro popping some heals as you go but keep bloodbath mercy stroke foresight protect and stone skin too but thats just my opinion.

It only heals around 200 on my PLD, so nah, it's useless.
Cure is complete garbage at lv60.

My son and I played with the specs for healing on paladin. Just because we wanted to find out if the guild master's skill was even remotely attainable. It isn't.
The best you can get out of paladin is about 300 cure potency, and that is achieved by sacrificing dexterity and vitality.
You can get about 200 without crippling to much.
I don't have the exact specs in front of me but I know I play with one mage piece of jewelry and have about 6 points in mind.
The only time it worked in my favor was tanking gorgimera in n. Thanalan.
Party died, I had hit hallowed ground, then spam healed until they ran back from cereulium plant.
That's with using convalescence and reapplying stone skin at intervals. Sometimes the critical heal will hit 280 for a couple turns.
