you guys went overboard with this new relic

I for one agree with OP 100%. I like pancakes. Do you guys like PANCAKES? This is how I see it in a pancake analogy (pictures are yummy!):

I go to the Pancake Shop and order some chocolate chip pancakes. I get my order, and the pancakes are standard chocolate chip pancakes. Nothing super special, but you know it's good and was great the first time I ate them. So much flavor, fluffy, and the chips were chocolatey. So I eat there every weekend getting the same thing. It's my special treat for a hard week's work. I look forward to eating this here. However, I'm starting to get bored with this same old dish every weekend. I express to them my desire for something new, and they said they are working on something that everyone can enjoy!

Well, they tell me the next time I go in that they are serving something better than chocolate chip pancakes... they call them Super Fudge Cakes. So I decide to try these bad boys. These Super Fudge Cakes sounds really good--and I'm hungry. I sit down and get ready to order. Upon ordering, they tell me that they actually haven't added this 'signature item' to their menu yet. So I say, "Okay, well, that sucks. I'll come back next weekend." They reply, "Oh sure, we'll have them. We are going to make sure they are extra special just for you since you're a loyal customer and we appreciate your business."

Next weekend, I sit down with my napkin tucked in my shirt. Fork in one hand, knife in the other, I prepare to eat. The waiter comes by and says, "Sir, we didn't get a special shipment of fudge in from Africa, so we can't serve you these pancakes. But we will DEFINITELY have them next weekend. And you know what? We will even let you skip the line and get the first batch if you hand in this ticket. Please, sir, look forward to it." So I'm thinking this fudge from Africa will be so decadent and scrumptious that it will be worth the wait. Besides, why would they lie? I'm a loyal customer, and they surely want my business!

So I'm thinking to myself that's cool. One more try. Next weekend rolls around. I go to the Pancake House. I give them my ticket. I sit down. I order the Super Fudge Cakes. This time the waiter doesn't come out to give me a lame excuse. I'm so pumped. I have like 5 different syrups out and my mouth is watering. Then, he brings me my plate.

...Pancakes with chocolate chips on top with fudge shavings around the plate as a garnish. WUT? I tell the waiter, "Sir, there must be some mistake. I ordered super fudge cakes, not chocolate chip pancakes with fudge shavings around it. I thought this was going to be super special, but it looks like what I normally get with some fudge shavings..." He said, "Oh, well just try this and wait patiently. If more customers than you complain, we will think about adding more fudge. Until then, please enjoy!"

Now, should I be mad? I mean, I got my Super Fudge Cakes after several delays. So, I should just eat them and be quiet, right? They taste just the same as the chocolate chip pancakes. They look *nearly* the same, I can tell they just added some fudge garnish. It's what I enjoyed before. So, it's okay right?

WRONG.

I should be upset. I waited how many weekends for this special menu item? I was told it kept being delayed only to have my sights set on something special only to get the same thing I had before with a minor variation (visual appearance). While it was good, I was told it would be worth the wait. When I complained, they said they'd look into it (but I knew they would probably just lower the price by a quarter or something). As a customer, I will do one of two things: hold a grudge and continue eating there anticipating a change, or leave and find somewhere else that will fit my needs. I didn't mind the wait. Things happen. I was told this special fudge from Africa would make the Super Fudge Cake yummy, so I waited. I was excited, only to be let down that it was the same old as before. It filled my stomach, but I didn't enjoy it because I had my sights set on something new and innovative. This was the reason I waited so long. The loud people behind me said, "Well, if you don't like it, then don't eat it." So I told them, "Okie dokie. I won't." And I walked out of the Pancake House and never returned.

I feel like this with the relic, if I even make sense. It's not the grind that's the bother. It's the fact that it's the same thing presented ever-so-slightly different after a long period of wait. I was excited to try something different. I can live eating chocolate chip pancakes. I can live slowly doing this same repeated content. But it's not a Super Fudge Cake. ;_;'

Personally, I find it weird that they clearly put less development time into the Relic than compared to any of the other content (Diadem, LoV, Gold Saucer, Alex NM, Alex Savage, Crafting, Dungeons and Hunts), yet conversely it appears that more people partake in the Relic than nearly all of those things (with the exception of probably Dungeons).

Where is all the content they promised us .ie fighting super summons to gain special powers and items . in my opinion this repetitive grind that they have laid out is getting a little retarded. Grinding dungeon by dungeon ..get armor...new patches come out armor is obsolete get new armor . Where is the customization of characters .. this relic was the closest thing to that and look what they did now . I feel like this is just a waste of time doing this again and I am going to be looking for another game to occupy my time unless I see any changes coming . Totally could of left relic line as it with upgrades and created a separate anima weapon so people don't feel cheated. Really lazy not thought out development....

My only problem with the last step is the millions upon millions of gil you need, me being gil handicap in this game and hardly able to get 1 million I'm locked out of this just cause I'm poor :/

Try the kinnikinnick pancake & waffle mix. I would eat them over gluten pancakes any time. I am not celiac btw.

On topic: Hopefully when they add another step to this they involve fights from HW storyline, not just dungeons.

I make things for free for my fellow fc members and at the same time I still need to get the other items from other especialist people so encourage me to communicate with other people or setting up PF asking to exchange stuff . I think is great

And again if you haven't got a crafter level or specialists SURELY your fc will be willing to help.

If not, who is paying when you give them away for free? (Dont say you pay because you are selling to get the gil and those who buy are paying for you!)
You are telling me "others" have to pay the price so that you can hand it over to your FC... wait isnt one of the complains that SE is handing over iLvL210 to casuals - if you give them the items for free did they earn it?!

The way this works in the crafting for members free is: The FC members will bring you the mats and you craft it for them and do not charge them for making it. Hence they paid for the mats and you craft it for free. Been doing this for my FC members who needed the HQ items for those quests before Mahatma stage. This is making it for free unlike when you see shouts of people asking for someone to craft (even tho they have the mats) the crafter still will charge the person for their services.

The exchange works in that most crafters who took the time and gil to level up their crafts and keep them up to latest stage have most likely 3 specialist crafts. So they can put up a PF saying "Needing a BSM/ALC/CRP/ARM/CUL specialist to craft item(s) X, X, X, or X, in exchange for GSM/LTW/WVR specialist x, x, or x item." Eventually you will be able to get all the required materials needed or things crafted due to that exchange because you will have specialist jobs they need and they will have ones you need.
