Go go Brucey~
I am so not saving this thread again. It's depressing after all the effort I put into it to be lambasted by lack of punctuation and regression back into ad homenim attacks only a few days later.
Someone lock this train wreck, please.

Agreed.
Your efforts would be wasted at this point anyway Krin. Gifthorse has taken over full force, and he has an apprentice with him this time.

Do you know what we're discussing? Cause it sure wasn't 3 month gear plans. Which, I've disagreed with early in the thread.quote from another:
Whether it be ignorance that drives you or whatever. I'm not here to dissect what little of a brain you've got
yeah but your here to just straight out ridicule peoples intelligence like it is the relevant to the thread, or in the conversations in it. and as if intelligence is where se is going with it's changes in the game itself. or at least not the game play just the pockets.
either way how bout we get off the insults and stick with the op's thread.
by the way 139 hates
and 30likes for the concept of 3month gear... so as u can see i don't need to really say much to win my point.
So, you won your point in the one sided argument you thought we were having. I'll give you that, but only because I figured you would have delusions that you shamed me anyway. In the same way you have your delusions of drandeur thinking you are entitled to much more than you really are when it comes to FFXIV compensating you.
I can't have an argument with you. It's an unfair advantage.

Krin,
Don't let the trolls get you down. Your posts are welcome and informative. You could be quoting the DEV team directly, in writing, signed with a notary and they would still attack you.
Forum Lurker Extraordinaire.
Like a good stalker, I'm always there.
Actually, they've completely ignored me and Azure. We've come to an agreement, shared some theories, and moved on.
It's not so much that the trolls have nothing to say, it's that they can't even find the f***ing space bar or shift keys.
i seeretards, but they don'tknow their retards.

i feel that your talking about something thats YEARS away if your really talking about endgame
that or your mistaken that every new updated gear is endgame....
The details don't matter.
One of the greatest catalysts for someone quitting an MMO for good is getting that hard-to-get item they'd never thought they'd get. They play around with it for a week or two, and then they quit forever because there's nothing else to look forward to.
Basically, the moment the challenges are gone, the player feels no more coercion to play. For an MMO to survive, there always has to be an even larger mountain to climb, a bigger beast to fell, a mightier sword to wield. Or at the very least, the knowledge that these things will be coming around soon, so you'd better prepare. In an MMO, there can be no such thing as contentment.

Progression doesnt always have to be with a gear grind. Motivation doesn't always have to come from gear. The carrot on a stick doesn't always have to be the newest gear. The details don't matter.

I think keeping a game fresh is necessary, but I just don't think this avenue (of gear grinding) is the best one to take, and it's a one way street.
I think building on the idea of player-run companies and giving players some more parameters to play with would be a better idea than simply limiting the parameters to "gear grinding" and building the whole game around getting gear. It's shallow.
Like I said, there has to be an even larger mountain to climb, a bigger beast to fell, a mightier sword to wield. It's not all about gear.
That said, it's definitely an obvious choice. Not only are you more powerful, you look more powerful. It's something that grinding extra abilities doesn't immediately convey to the others around you. There are other motivations, but there's always going to be that need to stand out from the rest of the pack, and to constantly update that look as others catch up, or worse, surpass you.
