Indeed. And in my experience, at least one person will constantly take AoEs to the face. |D Midgardsormr is still one of my favorite fights in the game tho, just 'cause the AoE dancing is so much fun.

I feel the same. Midgardsormr is one of my favourites as well, for the same reasons.
Okay so you know how disastrous it is to heal Sohm Al. I didn't because my forays into the mountains on AST were decent enought. On SCH however I was overwhelmed by the idea of Micromanaging Lily's moves. I was barely able to keep the team up (one teammate was an FC-mat the other half were pugs...with bad attitudes, but that's irrelevant). Naturally I was so busy trying to keep everyone alive that I wound up dying to Chaos Blast...twice, both times resulting in a wipe
The only reason we managed to defeat her this time was because I has all but literally Sic Lily (in Eos mode) on the tank at his suggestion, while I focused on my own spells...
Earlier that day I went into expert after hearing that apparently you need to micromanage your pet to be the best you can (Makes sence, considering the strategist angle in SCH). The Roulette picked Amdapor Keep...HM and basically most of what I did was spam 1 and 0 (MO macros for Physick and Enbrace, respectably), and compared to the above Sohm Al run of doom, this was ...easier. If only because we only wiped once on the final boss there (and once more in the DPS check room) with Wild Card's AoE expanded to cover 90% of the room.
Ugh both of these runs have me wondering if I should reevaluate my Embrace macro, or consider using the Place command more ofthen
I had a really strange AST yesterday in leveling roulette while I was playing my WAR.
Dusk Vigil starts, he puts diurnal sect and we start.
During the run, I'm popping my usual cooldown, but I see him struggling a lot and spamming.
I told myself that he was probably undergeared, until we reach the last group before the 1st boss and it hits me.
He never used a single aspected benefic, not a single time.
I still start the 1st boss, and usually as my AST, I would just aspected benefic the targeted party member for the attack and even put a few dots on boss.
But this one just spammed benefic II on the target even before they took damage.
After the 1st boss, I asked them why they never used aspected benefic, because that would made his life a lot easier.
The answer (from the entire party that was french) was "".
The other strange thing was that I would receive all the card. Spire, Arrow, Balance, Bole, whatever he got would end up on me with only a few exceptional time, I don't think I've seen him use royal road once too.
Add to that the fact that the dps was low : an ok SMN and a MNK that barely did any positional, and it made for a strange run, atleast we cleared it with no wipe.
In 4 man dungeons, the only real micro management you need on Eos is rouse and whispering dawn (throw fey illumination in there too if you want). The true micro management of fairies comes into play in the end game content i.e. Alexander Savage. Place fairy near tank if you want to have a slight increase in fairies own A.I. throughput of embrace by all means as wellOkay so you know how disastrous it is to heal Sohm Al. The one thing though that can make this seem not enough is the performance of the other people you get matched with in DF. Get bad people, you will have to work far far far harder than should be needed

Maybe the response of "I had a really strange AST yesterday in leveling roulette while I was playing my WAR.

You reminded me of the time i was levelling war in Dusk Vigil, also got and AST as my healer. They were using all their spells correctly, but they could not keep up with the healing in pulls without going OOM and this elad to my death a few times before we got tot he first boss. We check their gear, turns out the AST in Dusk Vigil was using an ilvl 41 weapon. We asked them if they had a better weapon, response was "lol no". They got told they could by one really cheaply in Ishagard that was ilvl 115 then were removed from the party.

Place is nice because there are quite a lot of ground targeted AoEs that do little to no damage to the fairy, so you can run out of them and she won't stop healing. Cleaves will nuke her though, so be mindful of where you leave her.
Did The Aery. Besides a few of the usual hiccups (DPS gwtting hit by avoidable crap) it was actually pretty fun and easy. lol I had a good group.
I did a run of Haukke NM earlier though. My tank was a lv29 MAR... She didn't know how to hold hate at all. I even marked the Jester during the second boss but she ignored it and tanked the Steward while the BRD tanked the Jester. >_> I don't think she was doing her enmity combo at all either, and I never saw Overpower... Our DPS was really high though so the dungeon wasn't too bad.

Decided to take a break from Thordian Ex and went to level my whm. Got into a Sunken Temple of Qarn in levelling roulette, 2 DPSes were new, nothing out of the ordinary so far.
Tank decides to not use Defiance as a "challenge". Things got uneventful right off the start when he couldn't keep aggro, polite pointers to please use overpower / flash were rebuffed by "i know what i'm doing". Err... clearly you don't.
The rest of the run was a living disaster. Equally frustrating was teaching them how to kill the stone face thingees on the platforms. When the tank told me I wasn't using Benediction fast enough to save him from Final Sting, I snapped and quit the party, earning my penalty.
Is this 4realz? If we had Bene at level 37ish it wouldn't be off CD often enough for it to save you from every Final Sting. And few healers can consistently save someone from those with Cure/Cure II (I know I can't). It sounds like you had a troll... Oh I hope it was a troll and he isn't actually that stupid. A challenge he says!
I certainly hope he was trolling because he sounded like he knew what he was doing..... mostly. >_<Is this 4realz?
