Pretty much this. If SE thinks enough people are willing to pay a certain price for a certain item based on whatever info they have, they'll go for it. Only way to get it at lower prices is if the player base pretty much says no to that and barely anyone buys them at the price point.

ANd yeah it could be cost, while a recolor may seem really simple (and maybe it is.), it might also be more expensive then it really looks. -shrugs-

You're implying I'm willing to pay that much for it. I'm not. It's a recolor, not even a new model. It's in-game already. I'd put it at $3 max.

Oh come on, this is just what players actually wanted - players have been requesting Livia and Nero's personal custom-painted magitek armour since ARR's launch so now they've finally delivered what has been requested. Must there always be a whine session whenever something is added to the Mogstation that has been requested? SE are after all, only doing what players want.

really, we are paying for the game, paying monthly, paying for retainers, paying for stuff in mog station, god alone knows how much we have payed for twintania mount...

and then SE can't even hire enough people to bring the relic quest in 3.1? a patch we waited months for? 3.15 in end december? that's almost another 2 months later.

pay for this, pay for that... what is SE doing with all the money? 12$ for a simple recolor...

All the more reason to not purchase an overpriced item. "Caring" about the glamor is fine it's a big part of the game, but why should you have to pay above and beyond your subscription fee to get something as simple as a reskin?

Why you don't protest this with a refusal of purchase is beyond me. Hell I like glamor as much as the next, and it's why I refuse to purchase from the cash shop because I shouldn't be required to pay extra to get enjoyment from the game I allready pay a hefty fee every month to access. Where do these insane costs even come from? All the mounts they have released use existing ingame assets "Slepnir, Draught Chocobos, now Magitek mounts" All of these are in the game and took minimal effort to slap paint on and somewhere down the line your expected to beleive it's worth MORE than a months subscription?

People wanted them to be made available in the game. Selling them is a different matter entirely. Some players want male bunny ears... putting them in the cash shop for $50 is not "giving the players what they asked for."

They could have developed a new trial with these as potential rewards. They could have added these to older content in order to reinvigorate interest. They could have tossed them in diadem, or hunts... gold saucer. Many many different ways this could have been done. That's giving players what they want.

This game is highly successful. Cash grabs like this shouldn't be required to keep it running. These models already exist in the game, so it cost them nothing to make them available.

You already get a free magitek armour mount by playing the storyline normally, and can get a second one of a different colour as an achievement reward by getting enough player commendations.

There is absolutely no reason you need these extra mounts, they are just for fun, and so, like most things in life, you want extras, you need to be prepared to pay for them, that's just how the world is.

A time has showed us again and again, protesting against something is absolutely useless. Microtransactions have happened time and time again, they were protested time and time again, and yet, people who don't have go to forums could care less and just buy the items (the majority). I didn't purchase anything for over a year and displayed that I didn't like the cash shop, what came of it? More active cash shop updates. At some point, I just stopped caring. As long as they don't actively pour resoruces into the cash shop (entirely new models) or add items like Garlean armour, then I couldn't care less at this point.
