And then it's all your fault he died and popped all his cool downs because you should have been paying attention.XDI love how that's all you gotta say on that one haha. <3
Mine are all about the same story: hyperactive tanks that aren't paying attention to the team. You know the ones... the ones that aggro three monsters at once alone when the rest of the team is nowhere near them and then they start harassing the healer in chat to no avail because it's ALL HEAL'S FAULT... yep...
Leaving a good impression is better than making people feel like they can't do anything right.
Hm. I'll post here for once.
Ravana EX DF.
- Party apparently gets annoyed with me at 0 or 5% echo with 3 swords defense down stacks and some people with more. - I let myself die/get knocked off. "We could've done it due to echo" was the reply to my "Need to reset due to stacks" statement.
- Following pull continue to 2-tank dance with Ravana. (Literally dance and twirl about the platform throughout the fight- tanks and DPS being counter-shot all over. Walls getting broken.) One tank gets counter-ejected from the platform. With 3 DPS and a healer dead and a tank I just raised the party starts calling out at me to LB3 before the mini-enrage shield DPS check.
The DPS already extremely low.. It's obviously not enough to break the shield without limit break as 3 weakened dps, one weakened and one self-removed tank. I'm ok with that being my first DF ejection.
The best way I can relate to you, that party-o-mine, should you ever read this can ge best communicated by Woody Harrelson's Hunger Game quote phrasing:
"Face the probability of your imminent death, and know that there's absolutely nothing I can do to help you."

It's always the ones who screw up who are trigger-easy on calling for healer LB3, or demanding to be raised. This is the utter offense. Everytime I see them write that, I'm thinking to mysef "stfu, I KNOW, whose fault if the situation is how it is"

Healer LB3 just prolongs the wipe. I have never seen it actually help.
I just finished what was possibly the most stressful run of my healing career (note: I am not a raid healer), but also oddly my most satisfying.
I got Sohm Al for my AST's leveling roulette. The MNK never loaded in; in fact, he was caught in limbo so hard even after we successfully vote kicked him - complete with chatlog confirmation! - he managed to stay in the party another 5 minutes while we low manned our way to the first boss, until the server mercifully dropped him. So the run was already not off to a great start.
We got a replacement NIN to go with our BLM. Now, no one aside from my level 57 self was all that well geared, averaging about i115 from the looks of it, which was completely fine considering we had new folks, but progress was a little slow. I tried to DPS where I could but there wasn't a lot of wiggle room for it, especially since the tank kept standing in AoEs (to his credit, he improved after I brought it up).
First boss went deceptively fine.
Second boss, no one attacked the green add. I'd explained the fight beforehand, with a sly suggestion that we could simply LB it, but I suppose people were tunnel visioned. It blew up at the same time a mark soak went out; a hasty Aspected Helios saved 3 of us but the BLM died.
Tioman. I gave explanations and away we went. The poor BLM could not seem to stay out of AoEs for the life of him; I raised him twice before the wings phase. As the phase started, he died again to Heavensfall. I got him back up, tried to heal and Protect the best I could, but unfortunately we took so long breaking the wings the Dark Star killed him yet again. It actually almost killed me too; when I plummeted to a few hundred HP from nearly full, I didn't understand why until I selected the boss and saw 4 stacks of damage up. I didn't even know she soft enraged the longer the wing phase went on until now.
We managed to break her wings. I popped an ether. The NIN ate a pile of Chaos Blast and died. I raised him first, he LB'd as an AoE circle popped under him and died again. As a sometimes DRG, I felt much sympathy for him, but now I had two dead DPS on my hands. Mana was getting pretty low, I stalled until Swiftcast and Luminiferous Aether came back while praying for a Ewer that never materialized. To make matters worse, with less than 4 people up, the comets were now also marking the tank, who never moved from his spot up front (to be fair, he was simply tanking where I'd advised him at the start). Thank the Twelve for Essential Dignity and Lightspeed. The BLM died another two times before Tioman finally went down. I didn't manage to raise him before then, so he lost out on boss kill exp.
tl;dr I healed the last boss of Sohm Al on my AST where I raised DPS 7 times and almost died to a 5400 Dark Star due to wing phase enrage. It was a lesson in not panicking and assessing my options, definitely a valuable experience but I wouldn't want to do it again, haha.
One time...
Ravana EX at the very beginning under stuff and all...
I was alone with the PAL
He got a deadly hit
I call the power of the stars and raise everyone (minus the idiot who fall)
Ravana was piss off and cut me in two right after the lb
The whm manage to end the fight solo healing with little to no mana
Sacrifice... I'm proud of it, but i was pissed to finish the fight on the ground XD
Not much of a horror story (unless you were anyone nearby not expecting it), but I still wanted to share.
(PS, that's only 5)
Holy spam is so 2.0
It's gratifying to discover what you can accomplish when you don't panic and have a few seconds to think things through. While it's stressful, every healer owes it to themselves to experience it at least once. The confidence they gain is immeasurable.
Oh hey, we were in the same Fate party in N.Thana for a short bit, over the weekend o_Oa
I was the 49 DRK trying to be 'helpful mobby fate tank' but probably making a mess of everything >.>

I've healed Vault several times on WHM, SCH, and AST, but yesterday I suffered total brainlock during the run on my WHM to get to 59.
It was a fairly average run up to the last boss. The only issue was the PLD wearing mostly Ironworks gear in the 57 level dungeon. His sword was the only up to date piece.
Despite that, there was only one group of mobs where I had to use Bene. But for some reason when we got to the final boss, all was going well up until the adds phase. I healed us through but then the tank got rekt, a dps got rekt, and I got chained to the other dps. I stood there staring dumbly at the screen for a second, started to cast Medica II on autopilot, then one by one we all went down. Owned up to that being my bad right away but then one of the dps said he had to go and bailed. Our tank:
We got another right away, and cleared just fine. But I'd prided myself on getting my party through a lot of clutch moments and felt ashamed I'd wiped us there.
