This is a game where you take several dozen times your max HP in every encounter. Your max HP simply doesn't matter, it's all about the RATE at which you take damage. This is why nocturnal aspect and vitality accessories are considered utter garbage, because a shield will simply increase your max HP. In order to DPS in a dungeon you need some kind of regen to slow down the HP loss to a managable level. A scholar's fairy casting embrace counts as a regen for this purpose. A regen effectively counts as 50-90% mitigation if it doesn't stop damage entirely. That's how you dps as a healer. You (and the tank, together) set yourself up to where the tank won't take enough damage to kill them in the next 5-15 seconds. You don't just watch their HP plummet and try to catch it back up. They will lose HP but it will be at a (relatively) slow, controlled rate.

As for your other points, there really isn't any excuse for not topping everyone off between pulls unless you're simply that MP starved from spamming gravity. And if you had time to spam that much gravity, the party's probably doing pretty well. But you should never plan your playstyle or equipment around bad players. That simply encourages them to be bad and that's something we need quite a lot less of in this community.

I don't disagree with your method to healing. However, I also said very clearly (you even quoted it), in lower dungeons, when you get sync'd down, you may need that extra hp. You can't expect a new healer in tam tara to know how to keep you afloat during your big pulls. They most likely don't have the gear, knowledge or cross class skills necessary to keep you afloat in such a scenario. Heck, you can even easily end up in a lvl 30-40 dungeon and still not know how to heal well (and apparently as we've all run into, those who somehow make it to lvl 50 and higher and say "sorry I'm new to healing"). I'm not saying you should encourage those who have a bad play style. But wanna know what's NOT going to teach them to be better? Half a$$ healing them. The only thing that's going to help them is if you get off your high horse and lend some friendly advice.

2 stories,one good,one ugly

1)Vault with 2 friends from my FC and a rando dragoon.Both dps arent doing so hot. Final boss they drop like flies.By rights we had no business clearing that guy.But through sheer force of will,a lovely tank,and some micromanaging eos we clear and rando dragoon calls me a super healer.
I was of the opinion Scholars had almost endless mp.Well during that fight I found the true limits. Not enough mp to cast a physick,aetherflow stacks gone,and aetherflow itself on CD.Miracles happened

2)Time for the ugly.Sohm al tanking at 3am to help a friend get to 55.We load in to 2 Lalas so already we know this isnt going to go well.Whm lala is boasting their dps the entire time.From their attitude I could definitely tell this was an alt of some MLG savage raid grinder,one of those haughty no chill elitist types who forget how to play anything else.

Wipe twice on trash.They cant heal me after they OOM on holy spam.bitched at my friend for the entire time and telling him how to play bard. offended at being told they should be focused on healing me first.letting me drop during ice dragon pull.I respawned,walked up to him,/slapped them,and left the dungeon all without a word.Friend told me WHM was speechless for once.

Sounds like they wanted your friend to sing a ballad - did they get one? (a healer should watch their MP during DPS though)

Nah, they actually wanted Minuet or however u spelled it, for the damage increase. Didn't seem to care about healing or MP at all. If they did get the mp ballad they probably would have just used it to spam more holy anyway lmao.

Back when ST was the current towers raid, I was trying to clear CT on my alt to unlock it, and of course, it was just filled with people being trolls. Could never get past the first boss because people would kill skeles next to each other, if they killed them at all, kept turning the dragon etc. After several weeks of wiping, I finally said in alliance chat how I've been trying to beat this for 3+ weeks and never can because every group keeps trolling and then abandoning. Im not one to usually talk in alliance chat, because I dont like to troll, or invite people to troll. When I did that though, I was pleasantly surprised when people started saying stuff like 'okay guys, lets pull this together and stop messing around now, someone needs to clear.' After that, the run was as smooth as could be, I thanked everyone in alliance at the end, and had a good day.

One WoD run I was in, on the final boss, someone kept removing the waypoint markers...

Decided to pug A1S. Tank doesn't pop any buffs for the tank buster, instantly dies.

"I could have lived through that 1 hit KO if you timed your Benediction better."

I was in Neverreap last night and I need to vent XD

I ran it about 3 times successfully yesterday so when the DF put me there again I wasn't too worried. I think maybe both the tank and healer were new but it doesn't matter. The whole dungeon was a stop-start-stop-start, the tank needed to afk, then the Nin, then the tank dc'd but the healer assured us he was trying to log back on so we waited and it took a while but he did come back. Off we went again. We got to the Vanu boss and his totems and wiped, healer pipes up in chat to complain that they are the only one moving totems. I know I have been but the Nin admits they forgot about that mechanic so I don't say anything and we try again.

The rest is reasonably smooth sailing until we hit the last boss. We wipe the first time because the tank dies, the healer doesn't rez them and I die trying to. We go again and again and the Nin continues dying, the healer gives him a rez, I give him a rez, I am throwing around my resurrects like I have never had to in a fight before XD At one point it's just me and the tank so I rez the healer and die just afterwards. They rez the Nin...and leave me there. It's ok, I'm dps I know I'm not prority :'D the chat is full of the tank shouting for an LB but nothing happens, they wipe and off we go again.

At this point we are on our last thirty minutes of dungeon time, I have no idea how we can be in here that long. Fight starts again, we get decently far and the tank starts shouting for an LB. I wait. I wait. Nothing. No one on the field provides an LB. I know mine is multi-target and we've got a lot of the adds still about so I figure I'll throw mine out and maybe take some of those down so we can concentrate on the boss. I use it and the tank writes in the chat "....I meant the Nin -_-"

Pet peeve of mine - don't just shout LB if you're in a DF group unless you genuinely don't care who uses it. If you have a specific person you want to use it then tell them so, not to mention that the Nin hadn't tried to use theirs the last two times an LB was requested. We wipe and I have lost the will to live.

I vote abandon and the others vote kick me. I only wish I could have watched their continued attempts with the timer ticking down and no one there to keep bringing them back to life.
