When we want to damage test in a "real" environment, my static goes and punches Faust for awhile.
It's the next best thing to a striking dummy. xD

I hate what parsers have ruined other mmorpg communites, but I do see how they can help players improve their rotation. Maybe SE should add a self parser and we can compare it with whatever SE think is the right amount of dps that our class should be dealing with ilevel Y and X?
This, so much of this :>I hate what parsers have ruined other mmorpg communites, but I do see how they can help players improve their rotation. I was wondering this. Thanks for confirming it. I thought I was crazy or that there was glitch. Didn't use my SMN much before HW.
If your buddy is running a parser in Diadem, then His parser is probably running for more than 25+ mins as the parse is probably always counting itself "in combat" as long as you or one of your party members engages a mob or pulls something. Actual fights don't usually last more than 15mins at max iirc. So its possible eventually your DPS will just get lower and lower on the parser as the time gets longer and longer on the parser.
Throw in Downtime from transitioning mob to mob or TP Issues
Doing a 7min parse on a dummy is probably more accurate.

I don't want to install third-hand parsers, but I want to improve my DPS (though I'm not one for min-maxing, just enough so that I wont drag the rest of the party down), and as I recently played FFXIII I had a thought: What if we get something akin to those star screens after the instances? And after "killing" a dummy?
Basically, it would rate DPS on their damage (with something like if every DPS gets 3 stars, the party passes the DPS check without Healer/Tank DPS. If every DPS gets 2, it can be passed with DPS from Tank and Healer, 1 star is a no-pass while 4 stars is a definite pass, and 5 stars is "we could speedrun this thing!"), ability to avoid damage and to deal with mechanics (like the bomb and jelly-blob thing in Copperbell; killing the bomb gives no increased rating and gets minus on the mechanics rating).
Tanks would have hate generation instead of DPS (and it would rate both on the situation, that is, the actual aggro the party is generating versus the tanks, as well as against the optimal situation when DPS and Healers get 5-starred) and avoidable damage.
And Healers would be rated on Health being above half, negative statuses being Esuna'd and so on, and avoidable damage as well as mechanics.
The thing is, it would only show your own score so no one can use it to grief, but if you consistently get above three stars, you know that if you fail, you're not the problem.
