Why can't people find things on their own? lol if you honestly cared enough about this issue you could be all over the news and updates...
They've said it numerous times in several sources, the first time was two or three months ago in german gaming interview with Yoshi ( where they also first announced reclaim would be a certainty ). This is the most recent, the live letter from last week. This is the digest, in english.

Actually what they said was:
Q: Do you have any plans to increase the number of furnishings we can place in our house?
A: "We’re currently working on features that will automatically relinquish houses... and thinking of increasing the cap after this"
200 is not enough to decorate a large house. Please increase the housing item limit!
While I would still love an item limit increase, I feel like this isn't nearly as big of an issue as it used to be. Thanks to the numerous large housing items that have been introduced, my large FC house looks fuller than ever while using less slots than ever.
Items like the Royal Plotting Table, which replaced twelve other tables in our war room, or the Stack of Tomes, which replaced three copes of The Five Ages in our library, have really gone a long way to solving slot limitations.
And while outdoor furnishings have never been as bad, I love the new Explorer's Campfire which took an idea that used to take 5 item slots and reduced it to 1. The Cold Knight's Cookfire is so big that our FC yard is using half the items it could, while still looking just as full as it used to when we had 40 items out.
If we can't get a straight up limit increase, I still very much appreciate the effort put into making larger furnishings that fill up our houses more, without taking as many item slots.

It is longggggggg overdo already so I hope they consider it very soon.
SE please do increase item limits (by a lot!) asap please. The overall design of housing is already so basic and sub par compared to most other games (even those much older), at the very least, allow us to add as many items as we like Oo
Remove the punishment of furniture destruction as well... stop punishing players for wanting a change of theme smh lol
We should be able to completely rebuild on a whim and redesign according to season/ event/holiday with no restrictions and certainly never anything destroyed because of it.
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
I'm kind of embarrassed/scared to share this, but I really want to see this aspect of housing improved, so I'll throw in my support by posting. I wanted to get an idea of how big each house is, so I estimated square units of the floor space (on which furnishings can actually be placed) for each house size, where each square unit is one wall panel x one wall panel (or one block on the ceiling grid). I only counted full blocks, so if the floor space did not include a full block, I most likely didn't count it in order to avoid exaggerating the size of the space.
SMALL (100 Furnishings)
2F: N/A
1F: 9
B: 16
Total : 25 Sq. Units
MEDIUM (150 Furnishings)
2F: 20
1F: 16
B: 20
Total: 56 Sq. Units
LARGE (200 Furnishings)
2F: 40
1F: 56
B: 58
Total: 154 Sq. Units
The big issue I have with furniture caps for large (and medium) houses is how unreasonable the ratio of allotments to space is. The upstairs space of a mansion alone is larger than the entire space of a small, and the main floor is larger than the second floor, and the basement is even larger than the main floor. Larges only get double the furnishing allotment of a small when it is over 6 times bigger. Shouldn't the cap be 600 instead of 200? Having 1/3 the amount of what we should have is the reason why putting down tabletop items or rugs comes at the expense of keeping the walls bare, or leaving the space wide open with no partitions.
I am not asking for more for the sake of being overly excessive, I ask for more because the limit is very off-balanced in favor of smaller houses, and it should be adjusted. Mediums need an increase too; it has a little more than double the space of a small so it should get at least 200, rather than 150. I am not against an increase for smalls, but right now smalls are allowed the most furnishings for the space they are given. I'm just asking to please fix the imbalance first. If smalls get an increase, please be fair and give a comparable increase for the size of medium and large houses too (1:2:6).
I do appreciate an increase is being considered. I'm just hoping a fair number will be implemented when we are finally rewarded with an increase. I love my FC's house and am grateful for the beautiful and spacious design of the mansion. I just would like to do the space justice, but it is severely limiting with a cap of 200.

Although I do like that SE is going in a good direction of making larger furniture to replace small multiple installments in order to minimize space slots (which I hope they continue with more innovative designs) one of my gripes that someone had also addressed is a proper storage function for all of the furniture that SE keeps releasing and adding to the list. A furniture storage chest or a storage closet/attic would suffice rather than having to designate retainers or a whole alt character to specifically hold furniture. Its continuously overflowing. Having a convenient and direct storage space (to probably hold the same amount of items the house/room and outside can hold, but more would me most welcome) specifically for furniture would be highly useful.
Most the furniture are just set pieces from within the game, which I'm fine with but they increased their size by quite a bit. It's really annoying when I walk up to a stove and it's taller than myself and I'm not even a lalafell. I wish they'd retain the more reasonable sizing. It feels like the furniture is being artificially inflated to make up for the lack of it and lack of item allotment. It kind of sucks to have unusable furniture though, or stuff that looks disproportionate if you're actually in the room.
Why do they keep adding new furniture but not more space?![]()
