It would be nice. I had a couple of people in our group griefing me and some people in my FC the last time I went. They kept pulling mobs on top of us while we were on our starting island, causing us to die several times. Then they left so we wouldn't have enough DPS to get treasure chests. I haven't wanted to do the Diadem since then.
Someone clearly wasn't around when Castrum Meridianum parties often had MULTIPLE afk leechers... Vote kick was added because it was the only way to deal with a massive problem.
Your desire to protect one or two leechers on the grounds of 'abuse' entirely overlooks the fact that their behaviour is effectively 'abuse' towards the other players in their party. The same goes for the Diadem; all it takes is a couple of bad DPS and a leecher to leave your party unable to claim credit for any kills your party didn't tag. At that point the leecher is abusing the other members of the party and deserves a kick.
For the record if you get a leeching DoL in a combat party in the diadem your party is screwed and unable to get credit for kills also. Most parties in this scenario just see everyone leave because it's a waste of time trying to deal with the leecher. If you don't see a problem there then I don't know what to tell you... People should only be allowed to switch to DoL classes when in a pre-made party as they do nothing but cause problems in a PUG.

Clearly!
Oh actually I've been playing since 1.0. I rarely encountered leeches, and when I did, I finished the run, or reran and moved on with my life. My intent isn't to protect leeches anyway; its to protect players who aren't as seasoned or just on different skill level from being forced out of groups.
I am opposed to a kick option because people would just kick gatherers and that's not fair, however something does need to be done about the 'leeches'.
This. So much. All that will happen is that everyone will kick gatherers which won't matter when no one can join in progress lol... Just going to get abused so hard.
My boyfriend joined a Diadem run through DF yesterday. He helped everyone attune and then started to gather and got crap for it as soon as he started. He queued as DPS too, so nobody was forced to switch classes or anything. He also spawned multiple chests and the rest of the party got the loot but apparently he should have DPS'd and gathering isn't allowed
Just an example of why I can see this being majorly abused. People would kick just out of spite.
Sounds like people wouldn't have a hard time claiming if only everyone didn't pile on the same island killing the same monsters.....
oh wait
that's not really what you're supposed to be doing anyway.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
It's simple. Get a hit on a monster, get a chance to roll on the chest. Don't hit a monster, don't get a chance. I solved all the issues. On the other hand, gathers would become an issue. Do we let the fighters take a stab at their loot because they're taking a spot or do we let them do what they want?
Oh me, oh my.
Maybe instead of kick them from diadem just kick them from party so if gathers get kicked they stay inside and let people make new partys inside
