    You don't have to be the party that spawned them, and sometimes they pop on their own anyway. What ends up happening is the first party to land a hit on them "claims" them. In order to then also gain the gold chest (since more than one party can) other parties have to meet a DPS requirement, which can be pretty steep for stars. This is probably the biggest problem with Diadem since it basically penalizes teams that either try to pick up ads or have a gatherer among them off doing something somewhere else.

    I'm disappointed they didn't put a claim system in the area. Without it it's just a big zerg fest. Everybody is encouraged to clump in one small area of a massive zone.

    If I understand the instance system here, it's a problem. If server capacity is keeping people out of dungeons because it's all being allocated to Diadem then the gating that gets people to Diadem is being locked out by Diadem.

    Diadem didn't break the game as much as Hunts did and continue to. Seriously, I don't know why Square keeps CONSISTENTLY reviving hunts as a way to get easy upgrades and catch up. Every single odd numbered patch sees the Hunts return and it's always the EXACT same system. It's really frustrating that this game kills any sense of accomplishment by making content that is SO casual friendly that requires literally no skill and gets you caught up to the best gear in the game.

    I only run it with my FC..and even then it's not often. I still prefer running dungeons.

    They made it very easy and mindless to get great gear from there. I can't help but think there is some reason they want the player base to have better gear quickly. Unless it's just set up that way so that the numbers for the new content look great on paper.

    But then won't it just cause even bigger problems where it's a race where first party that hits the monster screws everyone else over?

    Diadem kind of reminds me of Abyssea in FFXI-- like Abyssea, it is a total cluster, is kind of fun at the beginning because it is such a cluster, and ultimately results in nobody doing anything else anymore because they can be tremendously lazy and still accomplish their goals by "participating" in the cluster. I wound up quitting FFXI a little while after Abyssea came out because it kind of killed the rest of the game-- hoping that isn't gonna happen here, but I did sit for 90 minutes in an expert roulette queue as healer last night before giving up and going to bed, so that really doesn't bode well.

    The only thing I want to have changed about the Diadem is they need to make the other islands relevant. Spawning only on Dino island is going to ruin the appeal of Diadem before the next patch. Something where after the star spawns that island can no longer spawn anymore Stars and rank 5's would force everyone to look around for other area's to start the hunt again. Make use of a compass or something so you actually got to find the island with the best Aether or something.

    For a first attempt, I love Diadem. I really hope SE keeps updating it and every odd patch adds a new something to it. An 8man only would be fantastic to remove the zerg fest. It doesn't have to be better to add more rewards, it would just be nice to not HAVE to be in the zerg for the run to be meaningful. Sometimes I really enjoy the endless slaughter, sometimes I want to take on challenges for the hell of it, sometimes I want to protect my gatherers so they can get rare nodes. Give options SE!
