I feel the opposite, Im kind of surprised the lore forum hasnt blown up with theories since we got a whole 7 minute trailer with stuff to speculate on, aside from exploratory missions and lord of vermillion.
I had a theory about this actually... Firstly, I don't think it is a flashback, since we can see Y'shtola (in current get up) in Loth ast Gnath in a few pictures, so that suggests we go there and see this. Secondly, why did we fight Ravana? So that the Gnath would stop attacking the dragons of Anyx Trine, that was the agreement we made before facing him, if we'd win, he'd stop his conquest. Why might the Warrior of Darkness fight Ravana then? To undermine what we did there, to effectively resume that campaign. Why? Well, the dragons of Anyx Trine are certainly more likely to join up with Ishgard, and even help deal with Nidhogg, but not if they're occupied with the Gnath...
Would be interesting if the Warriors of Darkness effectively just go around undoing things we've done... Goes to the Heretics, tells them we're responsible for what happened to Ysayle (well... we kinda are...), tells them Nidhogg is fine, gets them rallied against Ishgard again. Perhaps turns the High Houses against us, seeing as we did just kinda kill their leader...

OK, I'll concede that point then.
See, the thing is, while the trailer's really long, the Main Scenario portion is only about 30 seconds, and most everything else has no bearing on it.
First we're shown Exploratory Missions, the main location of which I believe is in the Sea of Clouds and can be viewed if you go to the southeastern edge of the map.
Next is the Gold Saucer, which is implementing the Botany and Mining systems from 1.x as minigames, as well as Lord of Verminion. I'm looking forward to Lord of Verminion, as while the name is kind of derogatory (Verminion?) I enjoyed the old-school Warcraft RTS games and would be pretty happy if my Mandragora Royals functioned well as a unit.
Saint Mocianne's Arboretum, which is in the Dravanian Hinterlands and apparently filled with giant bugs, your friendly neighborhood morbols, and parasitic plant monsters.
Pharos Sirius (Hard), which involves an order of kobolds and more advanced bomb monsters in the basement.
Zundu beast tribe quests. We know the paissa is going to be their minion reward and the sanuwa is the mount. The biggest question that remains is will we get their /dance emote?!
Shots of the new hairstyles. I wonder how many people are going to use the afro.
Minstrel's Ballad: Thordan's Reign. Looks intense, and as a solo player I wish I could experience it, but that probably won't happen since it's "EX" level versus Ultima HM and more than likely won't be on the Duty Finder.
Shots of the sky pirates we're going to be working with for the 3.x 24-man series, as well as the interior of the Void Ark and various bosses therein. Want my Hunter's Axe back for this task.
Finally, the story bit... which is about 30 seconds long, probably owing to the fact the trailer is probably designed for the Japanese audience first and they aren't too invested in the story.
Krile running up to the party in what appears to be the Hinterlands or Idyllshire and apologizing for keeping us waiting.
WoD!Broegadyn trying to kill Shtola outside Loth ast Gnath.
The elder of Haurchefant's two half-brothers stating Derplander, apparently, sounds just like Haurchefant and says things he would have said, as well as a butler handing Derplander an intact House Fortemps shield.
Aymeric standing in rainy Ishgard streets having been shanked, while a voice says "A knight lives to serve, to aid those in need."
Darklander fighting Ravana outside Loth ast Gnath, breaking Ravana's parry stance with a Steel Cyclone.
Two-eyed Nidhogg, apparently in the Aery, roaring and glaring at the camera.
Finally, a voice (implied to be a / the Warrior of Darkness, who else wouldn't know us) stating that "So you are the Warrior of Light, the savior of Eorzea." Roll patch title.
It's already been confirmed that we will be getting the Vanu Vanu dance on top of that there's 2 other dances that were shown in the trailer.
Actually, it's a wordplay on Lord of Vermilion, a game with similar mechanics to Lord of Verminion.Next is the Gold Saucer, which is implementing the Botany and Mining systems from 1.x as minigames, as well as Lord of Verminion. Or so I'd assume.
But yeah, I wanna do the MSQ. Like, now. The adage 'Good things come to those who wait.' can suck it. ANSWERS! NOW! D:

I just don't like the pun, as it kind of insinuates that all minions are vermin, and I'm quite fond of a number of them. (Wish I had a fisher retainer... and high fishing myself... to get Gestahl... still trying to get Littlefoot.) Like I said I adore my Mandragora Royals and want to see if they function well as a unit.
