First off content difficault and relevence is subjective on a player to player basis what is easy and irrelevent to you is hard and relevent to someone else. Devs don't make content duie patch per patch the community does.
No mmo has perfect end game content, ff11 style end game was considered too grindy because of rng, gear was obtained over the course of mnths if not years (which kept it relevent community wide) but people hated it because it tooks mnths/years once mmo became mainstream people "had real lives and couldn't play mmo all day like a no life living in moms basement"
WoW came out with token system and gear was faster to get, this meant content didn't last as long. Then party grouping systems like Duty finder and Looking for group, made it easy to group anonumously (sp) and don't need to chat or anything, just in and out. Now thats getting stale, as people are tired of logging in and farming tokens.
SE added other content but no one likes to do them, either because of stubborness or boycotting.
So that lessens what people can do mentally.
I think this isn't so much a dev issue as it is a player one. People lost the concept of an mmorpg, mostly due to WoW changing the ideals of it, and MMO going mainstream. Day after day all I see is players making personal complaints but only play the game for themselves. If we took time to build actuall communities I think things would be better.
Like example, pvp would be a big thing if people built up grand company linkshells for pvp. Is it that hard to make friends of the same grand company?
End game would be better if we instead of had seperate statics, we do them as a fc or something build everyones gear up, bond and grow.
Why not log in and help new players? offer to run dungeons with them to level up, run guildhests with them.
Heck why not do ct like content as an fc? or even a linkshell.
I think a big issue with the perspective OP has, is the duty finder being so anonymous (sp?) Even English players on the tonberry data center rarely say hi, its almost kinda rude ^^;;
It is a lil sad MMO evoled to the point where interaction with other players is optional where as before it was pretty much required.
I Think what we need is more content that forces us to interact to build communities. I think we as a community need to rely less on DF, and use PF more. SE needs to make it so you unlock PF after levequests, and add quests that use PF for stuff.
Id love to build pf dungeon parties, guildhest parties, leve parties not just fate/ raid parties.
Id love to see LS and FC actually do stuff together like events
TLDR: I'm tired if playing massive multiplauer games solo since WoWs launch. I miss the ff11 community vibe. I miss content lasting years. I don't hate ff14, nor am i wanting ff11 2.0. But i think we as a community need to open our selves to each other and re-think on how we do content, because we are the biggest issue there is on content,
