I missed my cap for tomes for the first time last week.

You can view this as a complaint thread, I don't give a damn. I paid money for that box sitting on my shelf, and I pay money every month like all of you, so heres my main gripe with the game.

I'm at the point where I can only log on for 5 minutes. There is nothing to do for me outside of duty finder. I love the gameplay, but I hate, ABSOLUTELY HATE doing the same content repeatedly for months with no increase in difficulty, with things only getting easier. Doing expert roulette is so disheartening. I hate the token system so much in Alexander I haven't touched it in weeks, only when a FC member needs help, I think the duty finder is stupid due to not being able to be in a party and not having your chocobo out, limiting what I can do while waiting for a que to pop.

Basically what I'm saying is that I, and other players need something to do outside of the duty finder, that isn't gathering those god damn stupid red scripts. What if we had late games levequests? A randomized dungeon? Something fresh and innovative. The airship expedition might be nice, but I'm sure it won't be end game content. We will most likely get the same old boring ARR formula of "do your dailies farm tomes until you capped, buy x item." Rinse and repeat until the new content comes out. I just want to have fun again like when I first started playing. I wish the A realm reborn formula gets gutted soon, I hate the tome system, I hate the token system, I love the actual gameplay.

Theres no adventure anymore for me, I sit at the FC house or a city town twiddling my thumbs waiting 15 minutes for an expert roulette que to pop, just to do the same thing I've done a hundred times. I'm bored out of my mind when I log on, and I love the game. I just want stuff to do.

Then play the game then, where does it say you have to cap tomes and buy item "x"? The game is what you make of it. If you decide to stay stuck doing the same thing over and over, then of course its going to get boring. To each his own, I think I've only capped eso tomes once and actually haven't gathered any in almost a month. Found other things to do in game and still having fun.

Problem is once new content is released, the same people bum rush everything then complain theres nothing to do, again, and again. Its a vicious cycle.

I'm not capping this week for the first time, due to the Chaos maintenance and real life stuff.

It makes me sad I love getting new gear...
I mean I get why people hate capping them but I like to so this is actually bothering me quite a bit.

I haven't capped for the past two weeks, and it has been the best thing ever. I might splurge and go for three!

There's a lot of content in this game and at least three different forms of content that provides Eso tomes: dungeons, Alex and PvP. You mentioned being sick of the first two, then give PvP a try, there is definitely more variance when you are playing against other players than against scripted npc's/enemies.
If you choose to not partake in the majority of the content, that is on you.
So in the end it is not really that there is nothing to do, but that there is nothing that you want or choose to do. There is a big difference between those two things.

Join the club, a lot of people are feeling the burnout as well. I feel as though I'm twiddling my thumbs waiting for 3.1 but do we really need another one of these threads.

Take a break, thats what a lot of people are doing right now due to the current content drought.

I've lost track of how many weeks have gone by where I haven't bothered to cap. I guess I just finally realized how pointless it was in the long run. It's just going to get easier to gear up by the next patch anyway. Once I stopped forcing myself to run things for gear I didn't need and started doing whatever I wanted to do was when I started to have the most fun.

Oh yeah let's go at a snail pace guys, let's make sure we do so we have content to do in the end. It's all our fault for actually playing the game that we ate it all up already.

    ...

Really? That old "your fault for rushing" argument is exactly that, older, wasted, wrinkly and completely non relevant about the actual problem the game has. Maybe if the game had actual RELEVANT content that doesn't become obsolete the moment it comes out we wouldn't have this problem. They really need to stop this extreme vertical progression system, they won't be able to keep up with it without sacrificing actual enjoyment in the game by leaving us with no relevant content to do but non exciting Savage.
