FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

Honestly I think I'd rather the next race(s) be half-race(s). I mean...

...we already have one in the main story of Heavensward, XIV's own 'Lilisette' if you will...

...so there's no reason not to have them now, the precedent is set. As for why we don't have more bestial races... well, it very much is a cultural issue. You see it all over Japanese media through out the centuries. Half man, half beast characters depicted as little more than humans with animal ears with maybe a tail, fur used mostly as a censor to pass them off as 'nude'. This is in stark contrast to what Western people consider as half man, half beast. We refer to characters such as these as furries and has only really caught on in Japan in the last couple decades. Yes, I am aware of the Darkstalkers character that's a werewolf, but how many of those can you remember outside of that game?

I'm more surprised the female Roegadyn weren't popular. They're the only race in the game that can have huge breasts :T
Of course, I aim to play as a male Roe because... male Roegadyn are nice.

The females look like men/transexuals thats the problem. There are a few faces you can go with to make them look okay but for the most part they are overly masculine. I wouldn't mind seeing them redesigned.

As for the next race, Viera are still a good idea I think. Miqotes are popular, there's no denying it, so why not? WoW had two elf races, why not have another animal race? People obviously like playing them. Alternatively I think some kind of loli/shota race would be good. I'd like to be able to make younger looking characters. I like the young Elezen model we have with Alphinaud and a few other NPCs and I wish we could look like that. So I would like to see a young looking race.

I agree, I liked how half-elf looked like and it would satisfy a lot of conventional elf lovers.
Wouldn't trade my cat for it tho

What if they took this a little further like:
Miqo'te + Elezen = Viera-like halfing race. Tall, slender cat people with shorter tails but longer ears.
Miqo'te + Lalafell = Similar to the Miqo'te Kittens we've seen, taller then Lalas, shorter then Miqo'te, with larger, pointed ears, shorter tails, and more rounded features.
Miqo'te + Au'Ra = A chimera-like race, Horns AND cat ears, furry tails with spikes, fewer scales then Au'ra, height ranges from Mid height Miqo'te to Mid Height Au'ra.
Miqo'te + Roegadyn= Big cat race. Roe physic with Miqo'te's cat features. Maybe a little Galka from XI thrown in there.
Miqo'te + Hyur = Short tail, cat race. Has more Hyur-like features and height but Miqo'te musculature and physic.

I think anything diluting the Miqo'te's genetics would shorten the tail, while anything with longer ears, like Lala and Elezen would elongate the ears.

I would rather see some of the "beast" races that currently exist in game become playable.

Can't say I liked the bunny race from ff12 would not use it. Would much prefer for an original race for the next expansion.

I see people arguing about wanting a race that looks fierce, but where's my option to play as a cute male character that isn't both a dwarf and shaped like a potato?
