Melee DPS to the rescue

I'm curious to see if anyone has the same knee jerk reaction I do, and to see what others do when it happens.

You're in a party and in a decent scrap, when a monster jumps out and goes off to mangle one of the casters. The Tank doesn't notice or is in a tough spot so you break away to try to either drop the threat or get it off of the caster. Anyone have any thoughts on getting the hate to break off and attach to you? I know it would be in very rare situations, but sometimes I wish there was something you could do to generate hate and help get targets back in line.

Man I made a career out of that on a CASTER job, BLM. Our defense sucks huge balls. We gotta look out for each other lol.

Save your stuns. Over lap them to prevent target from moving. Do burst damage rotation if your job is able to do burst damage.

While on DPS - all the time, for casters o_o I'm especially protective of healers. >.> Thats when I spam my AoEs/CDs/stuns with extreme prejudice. x.x
Just last night - DFed into Fractal on MNK. We got to the part where you teleport to the ring area around the boss platform (with the jumps). We paused for the other DPS to catch up (who must have temp AFKed o.o).... healer ran too far ahead to look at the very first mob in the area and wait - and accidently pulled that first portion of the three-part mob. I had a feeling it would happen - just that odd sense of knowing the pull boundaries...x.x Ran passed and slapped elixir field into the incoming mob to grab them before they could get to her. (AoD probably would have had a larger range, and no CD, but... >.> /shrug Went straight to Elixir out of reaction/habit. OTL)

Nobody touches mah healers and gets away with it. :| Not even if they're DFed.

Mh... I am not sure but is Flash and Provoke not for all classes? Cannot login and check right now. But the last time I checked it was available on my other classes too... maybe I am also just checked it pre lv 30.

If I pull the mob, I am obligated to kill it before it kills me. I have broken the contract between DPS and Tank in that I would responsibly use my abilities to kill the enemy without endangering the party.

I have failed.

Therefore to maintain my honor that enemy and I are now engaged in a duel to the death.

Should I win, I am redeemed.

Should I fail, LOL NOOB SCRUB TANK LOL WTF LRN TO AGGRO.
