Eyep PLD for sure, easiest to learn and play also with its shield and its tank stance having 20% Damage reduction makes it a more solid tank.

As someone who mains a tank in savage and had all the tanks to 50+ pre HW I would absolutely say start with Pally. It not only give you basic moves like flash and provoke but also force you to learn how to generate enmity by target switching thru your enemies with the combo while using flash. It also has the best mitigation in the game of all the tanks especially during mid leveling dungeons.
Also don't start with drk for the love I've god. You'll want to start tanking at a low level and work yourself up at least get gladiator to provoke levels before even thinking of drk. Can't tell you how many bad drks are in this game.
Paladin isn't the easiest tank to play at early levels as warrior just needs to hit overpower to hold agro and can cross class flash and provoke at early gladiator levels anyway.
I would say though overall Paladin would be the best class to start off as because of the agro issues it has.It will help you learn to hold agro more effectivly than rolling one of the other 2 classes first.
Also because of the fact you can use it's stun whenever you want you can have plenty of practise seeing what aoe's you can stun on mobs.
My suggestion is to play both up to 25ish. Start with pld and then do warrior and decide from there.
Just remember, 30 to 40 the warrior has a lot easier time holding aggro. Paladins suffer during those times very heavily.
Personally as someone who also hates tanking but wanted to try it anyway...
I think I like PLD more (I have a WAR alt, so not on this character). Not that WAR isn't fun, but for "simplistic" it's a better option in my opinion.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Play them all to like 30 and see what you like the feel of..I will offer my personal experience ^^;
Paladin is my favorite..even if it is not the best right now..I like the "Holy Knight" Look. Also a sword and shield is classic tank look for me! Paladin is the "Duty to the party and friends tank" he wears a dutiful serious face.
Then there is Dark Knight...this tank to me is part caster and part tank..kind of like the "Shadowy mysterious" tank! he wears vengeful face maybe? lays lots of AOE damage and uses a great sword!
Then there is warrior..this is my very very close 2nd favorite tank! Warrior can do anything well now! You can play this class offensively or defensively They wear a confident fun smirk!
My advice to you is be the tank you think looks the most cool who's play style matches yours best! Be what you love! My reason is because even if your class is not best now..one day it will shine, and every tank will be good in the hands of someone who loves that tank! Also your friends will not care what kind of tank you are if you can hold threat and stay alive..which all tanks can do.
2nd best advice is love what you are doing and to hell with what other ppl think lols. It all balances out
1st best advice is get provoke!! (^^)b

Now why are you going to say something as silly as that? If you can't maintain MP while making pulls back to back, then how are you going to make it past A2?? Or I don't know, take advantage at the fact that many of A4's manipulator's attacks are magic. You do know Dark Knight has a CD and a debuff specifically for magic right? You're a level 60 DRK, you should know that! Among other things I've said in that post.
Please don't tell me that any of this involved you being carried. xD

While the idea is nice, there's just one problem with 25.
Gladiators get rage of halone at 26, and paladin with sword oath at 30. Things change BIG at this point, where everyone except you got a huge power boost, making your job horribly harder, until you climb that mountain of bad design choices to get the tank stance at level 40.
Marauders get something, I forgot, but it's no butcher's block and they get warrior and tank stance at 30. Things don't exactly change. Then you get inner beast at 35 and suddenly your TP isn't dropping as fast anymore.
Dark Knight already starts at 30, so you're going to need to bump the goal there or it's gonna be done real fast. Like faster than fast.
