Esoterics and the Yearning of Evermore.

I was speaking of the current weekly cap on Esoteric currency, and a fellow member informed me that 3.1 would not introduce a new currency and that- they presumed- the weekly 450 cap would remain.

I haven't found verification in query here or elsewhere as to any of this being verifiable one way or the other. What would be the justification for continuing to impose the limit? What would be the setbacks of doing so? Most importantly, has anyone seen something I haven't in regard to this subject.

The limit is usually lifted once the next tomestone is released, so yes they would be correct. 3.2 should be the time they introduce the new tomestone. As to why, well obviously they want us to suffer and not even be able to attain one piece of Esoterics a week, that and to keep people subscribed in the most lazy way possible (but hey, it worked on me).

I don't see any valid reason why they shouldn't raise the cap once enough time has passed for someone to get the first set. It would help newcomers catch up, and allow alt friendly gearing in this "alt friendly" game. So I think Colorful has hit the nail on the head with the subscription retention theory.

You can get at least 1 piece of esoteric gear per week. Accessories and belt count. and depending on how you've spent your tomes, sometimes you can get 2. At least its not still 300 tomes a week, that was slow.

Woes for the Silly Glamour Geese

I don't relate precisely to the notion that keeping the limited number would be a compelling reason to continue subscribing (and presumably playing) the game. The players who sincerely wanted 200 would have it by now. I suppose perhaps greatest justification is that players could then cap out and subsequently burn out which would then risk less active or even unsubscribed people.

I digress to the glamour enthusiasts. I don't know if I count "completion" oriented people; they probably don't need more motivation. It's painful for the glamour aspirations. How many Esoterics does it take to finish off just one set? The math wouldn't be hard, and the answer is, "this is very upsetting if I have more than one job in which I would like to glamour with Esoteric gear."

I see stronger arguments here then for opening the flood gate and letting people spelunk for more Esoteric Tomes and succinctly saturate themselves with a satiable amount of spiffing and sporting new shirts and slacks.

They won't uncap until new Tomestone just like OP said and that looks to be patch 3.2.
We are going to be working on getting our VOID gear in 3.1... iLv??? 200. If it is 200 then it all still makes sense that they don't want people gearing out every job to 200 quite yet.
I can't wait until they lift the cap though because I really want to glamour out my other jobs in the new gear. I have to look at the screen shots of the Void gear again...forgot what it looks like already.

We'll see a new tome in 3.2 when we see the next floor of Alexander. Law will be phased out and Esoterics will be unlocked. The "glamour geese" will simply have to wait until then because it's not likely SE is going to change the system.

What source are you pulling from that has verified the retention of the cap? I have not yet seen a source that has completely confirmed that they have no intention of lifting the limit; a limit which may remain well past New Years Day (and how much further beyond that.) I can only speculate based on what they've done in the past and the knowledge now that they won't introduce the new currency until 3.2

    Prices for Eso items
    Weapon : 990 tomes
Body and Legs: 825 tomes each
Head, Hands, and Feet: 495 tomes each
Belt and all four Accessories: 375 tomes each
Grand total: 6000 tomes for the whole set

    That would mean, with the 450 weekly cap, it would take about 13-14 weeks ( a little more then 3 months) to get the whole set. D;

CONVERSELY! Imagine getting just 3 weapons for one of each role. You know. Because. Reasons. That's just shy of 3000 for just the big stat stick for each of them. Isn't it totally Nutkins?
