not sure how elitism aroused from the teleport threat but heres my take on it, i'm not elitist in any way but.. it's like a joke some comedian i think said on his stand up. women can't move backwards, u can have a little apartment, u can move to a home, or then bigger one. but they refuse to move backwards in life. generally this is probably me in mmo's,

i don't level my brd in 2-3months so that i can merit for low amounts of merit per hour. or not have a brd if i go other class. i don't need to move backwards and it still be harder to do. u get good gear u kinda want people with good gear or that gear don't matter. even food, u eat food, no one else does...what is point of u eating it.

lets say for transport sakes, if everyone jumps on a chocobo to reach party camp, and only 1 person desides to walk ...everyone just waisted 1 there gils on choco or time on raising a choco, or time period waiting for them. it's all to that same effect and i don't blame people for wanting to be at same levels. also it shouldn't matter to others, if i pick my drg to level i make my own pt or don't complain with all the other drg's in my group. the attitude i think people see is manifest from them being the ones being pushed aside when u shouldn't get mad at these things. some people have little time and try to do as much as possible in that time, some play so much they can't possibly want to deal with the same issues all day. if they really douchbags is one thing, but for wanting a little more out of there gameplay cause they been there then i think most need get over it.

Elitism was brought up referring to me attempting to force my strong belief upon the people whos opinion differs.

There is a reason why I feel so strong about my opinion, this isn't aimed at anyone in particular, this is for everyone in favor of having this skip travel option.

    Gennosuke elaborated earlier, I'm continuing.

A MMORPG is a virtual game world that emulates aspects of a real world; An important pillar of a worlds characteristics, that define it, is it's vastness.

Time, Speed and Distance are all relative in measuring how vast a world is.

The Time it takes to travel a Distance depends upon Speed.

Faster Speed = less Time over a distance, slower Speed = more Time over the same Distance. Distance, the only variable that remained constant, helps describe vast.

Airships are a method of transportation the devs are invoking for a faster-than-walking means of traversing Eorzea distances. They help provide the feeling of a vast world.

If the lore stated airships were an instant means of transportation, then I can't speak no more, but in keeping with the basic logic of an airship, it's supposed to take time. It justifies that space is actually being traversed. Wanting the basics of an airship is not shallow nor does it cancel out the possibility of adding further content to it.

This option is saying...you don't have to spend time to travel between point a and point b, since it doesn't really exist, but you can travel this "mirage of a distance" if you want to. Taking away that distance is simultaneously removing the sense of vast in Eorzea. Kudos to the people who can comprehend how that can make some feel dumb if we actually don't skip it.

Yes, we know it's a game & nothing is real, but for me trying to be immersed in a game world, this simply breaks it and the virtual game world illusion. For those wanting to just play a game, not so much at all. That is how having this option ruins it.

It may not bother some peoples immersion, but you definitely can't say it shouldn't bother mine.

I'm only keeping inline with what a MMORPG is supposed to be, a virtual game world with in-game time, the existence of traversable distance (be it Anima, chocobo, airship, walking) to substantiate its massiveness (thank you Rhomagus for the correction), weather changes, exotic creatures to fight and people to experience and have fun with.

If I'm an elitist for trying to apply this....

    So be it.

You are an elitist just because your to selfish to understand that i and many others do not want to play that way. Thats why SE is giving options. Now we have your way and my way to travel. Thats the best option.

Some people do! I understand it's boring, you want to travel fast yadda yadda. You want more options. You already have that option. I actually play that way sometimes, it is called anima.

So are you an elitist because your so selfish that you still want to have another way to instant travel, even after I explained how it's breaking immersion for some and you already have that option at your disposal?

99 of them to be exact? Now who is selfish? The person who wants to keep immersion or the person who couldn't use their anima wisely and now wants to convert a ride into an instant transport for their personal time sensitive needs?

    Answer: No he's not.

I actually don't need to explain this. It is self evident and you should've realized this before posting.

It's actually 100 anima as well, so ya, not exactly.

What I'm saying is if I'm too selfish to understand that you want a certain play style, a style that I do understand because at times I do use anima. How is nobody else selfish if they can't realize the changes that having it as an option, is doing to the people who do see it as breaking immersion?
