Housing abandoned plots, this is needed SE!!! Thank you!

Just to voice my own opinion, I have no issue with people having multiple characters that they use owning houses, or people in a FC with a house owning a house of their own. However, people buying up numerous home with the sole intention of trying to sell them for a profit shouldn't be done, and I'm quite happy it isn't done on my server(that I have seen). I would have preferred to see SE try to expand their in-game support functionality, period really, but at least to specifically allow for reporting of players who are trying to capitalize on the current housing system than punish people who take a break from the game.

Hopefully soon, ideally SE should've taken lessons from other MMO's like LOTR where the housing is a instanced server and when 'plots' were full new plots were created for players to buy plus you paid rent for the plot you could pay up to three months rent to keep the plot and after that if you didn't log in or repay the next amount of rent due then you relinquished ownership of the house so other players had a chance to buy.

I don't think adding in game taxes on plots would be fair at this point in existing wards - people purchased the land knowing there was no ongoing maintenance cost. Adding a cost over a year after implementation (of housing) is not a good idea. It's much easier to just say you have to have an active subscription and if your sub is inactive over X days your land is subject to forfeiture (90 days is the minimum to be fair imo, retroactive from when they implement the relinquishment.)

Can't remember where I saw it or I'd provide a reference link, but I think I remember something about it being added in stages, with the first stage being the ability to transfer from one house to another, and then later adding the abandoned house foreclosure rules. 3.1 seems a likely time for stage one of the plan to get implemented. (likely =/= guaranteed, of course)

Orrrrr they could have done even better and copied Rift (and WildStar, but WS came out after FFXIV's housing system IIRC). >_> Taxes I think are an even worse system. The houses are expensive as it is... The way SE likes to price vanity things, rent would cost like 1 million gil per month...

I don't know if this has already been said. But instead of instancing houses, like personal/FC houses, why not make EVERY base plot the same, and then have the option to upgrade your house. Rework the next wards so you can fit more generic sized plots, and give people the option to upgrade the size of the house on the plot they still have.

That way, you don't have people trying to scramble to buy whatever size it is, and then people who already have houses aren't trying to scramble to buy the next size up that they want.

Wildstar has also begun going into the red and their server/maintenance costs have constantly caused them to cut costs and measures. The company is hemorrhaging positions and equipment.
I think its time people face facts, the BEST option data and server wise to maintain or even IMPROVE server stability and performance would be the demolish peoples houses who haven't logged on after 3-4 months. This military deployment thing doesn't fly either, I'm ex service and I have a lot of friends still in who have me, and others, available log on and keep their houses on Arche Age for instance.

A company can't just break its back for people who might not even be paying subscription anymore... These peoples houses should be removed, their accounts should be given e-mails and if they are past the 3 month mark given 3-4 weeks to either pay a subscription or lose the house. Dump all their housing furniture to the Calamity Salvager.

So why not delete all n-months un-subbed characters instead of just delete their houses?
by doing this, all associated properties (i.e. the house everyone looking at) will be removed automatically,
moreover, not only the house, in accordance with current system, their FC and the FC house will be deleted as well when all members are deleted, it also helps everyone clean up their LS/Frd List/Black List.
Of course, let these players restore their characters when they re-sub, hopefully there will be some compensation for losing the house.

Uuuuuuh.. no. Server/maintenance costs are not the root cause of WS's issue, and they're certainly not "hemorrhaging" positions and equipment. The heck did you get that idea? They certainly wouldn't be increasing the decor limit from 2,000 to 5,000 and increasing the size of housing plots and creating a linked plot neighborhood system if that were the case. :P If you're going to try and defend FFXIV's housing, at least know what you're talking about with the other game you're trying to disparage.
