Thats for sure. Op was a little bland. Though I guess the question that was asked, if any has had this happen to them went over looked and I don't think anyone answered it (me included). Just jumped all over the situation (me included). Though the OP did say they were and "emotional derp" so there that is. To actually answer the question they asked, no never had it happen

If someone ever tells you that you have low DPs the best thing to do is tell them to shut up and threaten to report them for using a parser. No one can tell you that you are bad. After all, you've made it to lv60 and have a very high item level. How could you be bad? You are beautiful just the way you are.

So, there’s this guy I know on my server who is really fond of using parser addons to view everyone’s dps output. The other day he contacted me and said that he was going to train me because I made some bad mistakes as a bard.

This actually broke my heart a bit. I’d managed to get to level 60 in game, with an ilvl of 191 and I’ve just been put off doing anything with bard again because of this guy’s attitude. He made it seem like I’d committed some cardinal sin because my DPS was too low and I didn’t have a fixed rotation (it differs depending on the situation so its not fixed like most people probably keep too.)

So, reason to the thread... I've gotta ask the community this: Have you ever come across people like this?

Why did it "break your heart"? Was he rude to you? If not I don't see the issue. You really didn't specify how he said it.

It sure helps though. Especially when people aren't speaking up for their mistakes. It's not fun trying to figure out if people are playing properly when you wipe. I came to this game from World of warcraft and I cannot imagine doing the hardest content without any kind of way to check to see if people are playing properly.

Whoa! so many here outright tells to b-list or report someone that might actually want to help someone to become better, if anything this game needs more random peoples that are willing to help others w/o asking anything in return. Not wanting to bash op or anything but i also have seen alot bards and other jobs aswell that have extremely subpar performance even on 4man's to the point you wouldnt even notice if he/she was there in the firstplace, most of them either dont know how to play their job properly or they simply dont care("i pay my sub so i can do whatever i want" is most common answer and this attitude needs to die when you do party content, because its just plain selfish).

So i would atleast hear him out and take some notes or hell do even some sparring runs as nothing is better than live training.

While his intention might be ok he is being arrogant and stupid. Arrogant because rather than asking if you wanted help he flat out told you he is going to train you. Stupid because He outright told you he is using 3rd party software. they have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy on parsers. nomatter how good his intention he stupidly put himself in a log telling people he uses it. If you actually do take him up on the offer now the GMs might see that as you condoning his behavior to use something against the ToS. I suggest you report him.

on the other hand if you are worried about your rotations and stuff either find a guide online or someone in game besides him.

I haven't bothered reading the past 2 pages, but I don't recall it ever being said 'He outright told me he was using a parser' just that this kid believes he's fond of using a parser. Honestly the whole situation sounds weird. For all we know he may actually be terrible and not even using DOTs or buffs at all, pretty easy to eyeball a bas that way.

Yes and if I know them I would take their advice. If its some random guy I did 1 or 2 things with I would probably ignore him. My friends and FC know how to give constructive criticism and explain how to improve without making you feel like a moron. I don't trust the normal player to be able to speak to people in this way.
