Ehhhhhhhhhh. No. Just... no. While I know very well what the value of a parser can be for the improvement of either yourself or a fixed raid static, I wouldn't dream of randomly approaching someone, telling them their DPS is low, then acting like I'm the second coming of Jesus H Christ on a silver platter here to help out and you're welcome in advance. If you can stomach the attitude you may get something out of the lesson, but honestly he could've approached you in a fashion that didn't make you feel like utter crap. I'd like to think he's just socially awkward rather than believing he's a complete douche, but this is the internet so there's really no telling.

Either way, don't let it put you off Bard if that's what you enjoy playing. If you want to improve, go out and research rotations and hit up your friendly neighborhood striking dummy. Don't be afraid of parser users, because they seriously aren't all like that.

Hm, you shouldn't let one comment get to you, and honestly, no one should ever expect to be the best alone, it sometimes takes the help of others to do better. Sure maybe he said it in a crude way but honestly if he is nice about giving you some tips, they hear what they have to say rather than be insulted that maybe you are missing something that could up your DPS. Would you be happier knowing that there could be room for improvement rather than lying to yourself and saying you playing as best as possible?

It is just odd that you became this disheartened to play cause of one comment cause if you really like Bard wouldn't you be more enticed to ask what could you do better? All it takes is a practice Dummy and a few test rotations to easily fix what your issues might be and if you honestly don't think there's a difference then it is what it is. But it never hurts to pull back and re-explore your options to see if maybe you could do better rather then feel insulted and lost interest because of the comment of one person.

I'd take any advice from a person who admits to using a parser over in-game chat with a grain of salt, because that is not the most intelligent thing to do if one values their account.

    Hmmmm.
Now I wonder what he said exactly to make you react this way xD
Anyway, just shrug it off and move on.

I feel really stupid now that I let it get to me, actually. Maybe it’s because XIV is the first real MMORPG that I’ve played so I’m a little “errrrh okay?” about some things, I don’t know.

At first, I was more than happy to go along and take advice but when he started barking orders at me, I was turned off. Since then, I’ve had nothing but /tell after /tell from him saying that we must train now because I’ll never get better. It sort of made me feel like a dog that needed training and it’s around that point that I lost it.

There probably are ways that I can improve, I’ll happily admit that to be honest. I’m the type of bard that needs a quick “mana plz” or “tp song!” in the chat because I get focused on one thing and don’t always register another until it’s too late.

… pretty sure I’ve lost the point to this post, too.

TLDR: I’m an emotional derp. The end.

Do what you enjoy, he is clearly the one with the problem, not you.

Nah. Everyone has a derpy moment, especially emotional derps. Just try not to let comments in an MMO get to you. They really don't amount to anything.

I'd just tell him to cool it down a little with the training. If he doesn't stop, that's actually harassment/stalking then and should be reported.

It's super easy to train out of tunnel vision. You're at least aware of it, so just remind yourself to check the party list for MP and TP bars from time to time. You'll improve as you play. Or, you can try playing Astrologian. That will quickly break you out of tunnel vision and get you in the habit of looking at the mp/tp bars, enemy positions, and aoe attacks.

The rest is muscle training and working out some skill rotations on a dummy to check your dps increases. it's totally optional. I personally think a more fluid rotation is better for unexpected encounters and when you're tackling new content anyway.

However you choose to play is up to you. If you got that far doing nothing different and no one has said otherwise (especially if you have cleared Ravana/Bismark or even Savage Alex) I would ignore any nay-sayers.

Why is this guy in the wrong again? It sounds like he wants to help you improve as a player. That's not griefing...
