I just saw the video and was like "Whaaaaaaat?" This should be interesting. But I wish they would release some sort of PC feature with the Oculus because I want to make use of my 980 Ti GTX. My PS4 collects dust. :S

Sounds like a neat gimmick that, assuming you have the equipment, would try once and then never again. VR I'm sure can deliver some awesome gaming experience, but the game has to be built for it in mind.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.

OMG NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! xD
Goodbye RL x . X
I think it would be like playing the game as it's now, except that the screen covers your entire vision. Great if you want privacy if you share the living room with someone else.
They released a JP blog, looks like it's just going to be first person with VR tacked, not some revolutionary new mode so they're not exactly expending too much resources into getting it working. One of the selling points isso sightseeing or try to fight Titan and fall off instantly because you're not looking down. You can look at the cute characters ...
There'll undoubtedly be a 3rd person option, but I can't see that being used for extended play.
Edit: It was just a demo created for TGS, nothing more for now.

#inb4.hack/SAO people lol

This was my exact thought when I read about the Titan VR fight. Seriously, anyone who's actually excited about this, play the game in first-person mode for a straight week. Be sure to do plenty of difficult content while you're at it. That should kill any enthusiasm you might have for VR FFXIV in a hurry. Probably put you on a lot of blacklists, too.
It may be possible to design an MMO to use VR effectively, but the eyes-in-the-back-of-your-head provided by free third-person camera control will be hard to let go...

So disappointed that it's only a demo, this morning I almost lept out of my seat in excitement.
I really hope the Dev team reconsider and add PSVR support. Even if it's just to look around at the environment, though the addition of limbs to first person and such would be ideal, something about being able to be truly immersed in Eorzea is an experience I'm sure we could all appreciate.
As for Fights and such in VR, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to add HUD warnings when an attack is about to occur. Just some food for thought.
Please bring VR to FFXIV.

i still think it would be rather cool to see and i wish they would add limbs to first person that has bothered me for so long now i wana truly see through the eyes of my character
i think it would be cool even if the use it for just a second screen type deal so for family's with only 1 tv or something like that just set everything up and play wile the folks watch tv or what ever kinda like with the vita but it will feel like a big screen tv
