I only play to cap ESO tokens and Red scrips currently since my static fell apart. Alex savage with pug is not too fun so far.

My FC is pretty much dead atm, there's nothing to do other than our own savage statics and capping eso. And there are a good number of long time players quitting entirely.
I'm pretty convinced the reason we have this problem is that there's no real endgame.
Lots of people play MMOs for endgame, level cap content. We don't have it.
Hell, EQ2 I could go get a group and xp grind for AA... More fun than leveling yet another job anyway.
Seal Rock is the only thing that's really keeping me playing, there's not much else I currently enjoy right now. But i'm really looking forward to the Vanu Vanu beast tribe quests!
Yeah, not a pvp person. Was actually ecstatic to see such little focus on it when I started here.
I've always said the reason is that the game's systems fracture the player base into small cliques and kills the idea of a larger community. When a lot of content is solo (gathering, crafting, MSQ, questing, a lot of the DF experience), 4 person (dungeons), or 8 person (raid content) and the most common group size is an 8 person static, what is the point of having a server of thousands? Why are there limits on LS sizes?
Back when I played WoW, the hardest level of content was 40 man and later 25 man. As a result, you had to know people and partake in the social aspect of the community. There was no DF, RF, PF, or anything. You had to actually talk to people. You actually needed to have a larger circle of friends. Back then, I actually played with, knew, and interacted with 50-60 people on a regular basis. It was a social game. FFXIV isn't. I log on to FFXIV and interact with a handful of people. It's not an MMORPG.
TBH, I think they should provide a 24 man raid that is on par with the difficulty and rewards of the hardest 8 man content. It would go a long way in broadening the scope of the game. Add in real server events like requiring the server to do something to unlock the second wing of Alexander -- something like farming / crafting enough turn-ins, killing enough mobs, or clearing enough content as a server. Force statics, FCs, and LSes to actually interact with the community on a larger scale.

There is not much to do right now. It's pretty sad when the only day you look forward to is tuesday since it means having an excuse to actually do something.
As somebody who played from Vanilla to WoD, and quit for XIV, I would prefer if the game NEVER followed WoW's raid formula, ever. The community was the most vile and toxic I have ever encountered in all my years of gaming. Raiding in BC was nearly impossible outside of Kara, unless you knew the right people or were actually good enough at your class, and guilds made room for you on off nights when the main raiders got their loot. Most people never saw true endgame content until after WoTLK hit and the game was dumbed down. Don't even get me started on EPGP based guilds. Say goodbye to any and all chances at gearing when you have a small fraction of special snowflakes with enough saved up to always, and I mean always, get gear before you did.
My entire reason for quitting and coming here was for the small community and less elitist attitude the players had. Up until recently, it wasn't even toxic here, like WoW is/was, and sure enough, all the WoW players coming here(those that I personally know) have started to make the community toxic. Being forced to interact with these people for any reason is a huge turn off. I like DF, I like PF, I like that the game isn't WoW.
WoW was okay 6-7 years ago. I reiterate, I prefer the game as is, and if I wanted to play WoW, or Raid like I did in WoW, or do AQ events like WoW, I would just go back.
