I don't think it's a good idea, I don't like that it's here but now that it is I don't care to out down the odd 3 dollars for a funny hat and the knowledge that the people who craft my addiction now have more funds to do so. I'm that guy, and of course; inb4 "cool story bro"

In all honesty the cash shop for FFXIV is the least obnoxious one in any MMO I've played so far. Items from past holidays that you can now buy but people at the time got in game? Sure. Why not? Rare mount or pet? Go for it.

As long as they continue to make plenty of pets, mounts, and glamours available to us players through the game itself then they can carry on with the shop.

It won't start annoying me until we reach the point where every cool looking thing we see previewed we'll know will be for the cash shop (WoW).

Considering how harmless the cash shop is (i.e. it's literally all just cosmetics), I don't think there's anything wrong with supporting it. My only problem with it is that it feels pretty barebones. There's nothing currently available that I wanna buy. Not that I want them to flood the cash shop with items, but I can certainly think of a few ways to spruce it up...like adding the rest of the rare, uncraftable. untradeable dye that you would otherwise have to rely entirely on luck to obtain.

Same. Though I go so far as to support it, as long as it stays to optional items that have no impact whatsoever on gameplay, the more the merrier.

As long as it's just past event gear, minions or a mount every 8+ months I don't mind it. The moment they put in original glamour gear that was not originally available in the game is when I'll get upset. Many people, along with myself love glamour. It's one of the reasons I play the game. Stats? Who cares, I don't raid, I don't need i200 gear to do any of the content I'm doing, but the glamour! That's what's important. As they say, glamour is the true endgame.

If they start doing that, I'll quit. It looks like they won't though, they haven't even put in a new mount yet even though it likely made them a lot of money.

They've technically already done that with the outfits from marriage and the cash shop only dyes.

There's a free option marriage. Also I have always been under the impression that those dyes are available let through retainer ventures

So you know of no big companies that pay insane bonuses to the highest bosses while taking away the snack machine in the break room for the employees?

I'm not saying they do, mind you. I am saying we don't know WHAT happens with the money from the cash shop. Does it fund the next in-game event? Does it fund the next raid? Does it fund making more cash shop items that fund making more cash shop items that ...?
