It can't be map achievement criteria since you don't get a mapping achievement for A1S-A3S. Its definitely clear criteria.

Just how are the Savages hurting the game as a whole?
I'm pretty surprised how low the clear rate for A3S is atm. It will skyrocket when people meet a comfortable spot in gear though.
I've seen several posters (on Reddit especially) saying Alexander normal should have never been created, or have a staggered release quite a long time after Savage. I guess maybe he's saying they shouldn't listen to a very minor part of the playerbase in regards to that? Just guessing though.

honestly, i'm not surprised about these numbers.
the biggest problem behind that is how SE handles iLvls, stats and character progression itself.
i myself quit when 2.2 released because i felt like a hamster in a treadmill.
there was not enough interesting content that could be done besides coil & CT.
and the same problems will arise in 3.0 > 4.0 again if all they do is keep using old content and simply upgrade on it by adding new ilvls.at some point you will stop doing old content and simply go for the newer content.
i didn't even finish my normal alex 190 equip because
a. i hate the alex raid, it's boring, short and i really could care less for equipment if i won't make use of it.
b. you can get 180 & 200 equip by simply going into dungeons or pvp.
i know ppl hate hearing it, but this is what made FFXIs content last so long.
you didn't have one set of equip that was useful, but rather had hundred sets of equipment that were equally usefull for different situations.and as the game got updated or an exapnsion, they kept on adding new interesting things (this of course applies to everything that has happened before the level cap increase, after that shit has just gone wrong)
the ilvl race is killing the content.if they had various types of content and not just fixed 8-24 man raids, but also content that allows you to pick your own group size or make your own alliance for it, aswell as equipment of the same ilvl but with different stats and most of all with more stats, then i'm sure people would also replay content.
but instead we get alexander and nothing else.what if people don't enjoy the alex dungeon like me? there is no other interesting endgame dungeon to do of equal level, so i'm left with grinding for tomes.
i say, add more content for casual and hardcore players besides 1 raid that gets upgraded every few months, stop changing the ilvls so much but rather stick with equipment that is more than just something you will throw away once the ilvl gets increased again.

Personally I can understand wanting to post-poning the Normal Mode for story, as by the time you get to Savages, you already have a basic gist of the fights and there's nothing new to have in the story. If post-poning the story mode version gives people that sense of adventure again, I wouldn't be against it. Then again, I really don't care if they don't, but completing the Savages would have a lot more incentive to it if you actually got a chance to experience the story and the bosses a little bit earlier that way. The story mode is a good thing as a whole though, as it lets everyone see the story, and maybe it will serve as an incentive to not nerf the Savage floors.I've seen several posters (on Reddit especially) saying Alexander normal should have never been created, or have a staggered release quite a long time after Savage. I guess maybe he's saying they shouldn't listen to a very minor part of the playerbase in regards to that? Just guessing though.
But I guess that's a good point, I don't really understand what the OP meant by that.

This is quite shocking... The number of subs must be lower than any of us thought if only 217k people have done Alex normal.
8 man raiding doesnt appeal to the majority, never has, never will. Which is why I am suprised it seems to always take the priority.
Focus more, much more on what the many enjoy >few. Raiding IS needed and should be there for them yes yes!!..but not always the end all be all only thing that gives the best.
However I think the numbers of who will participate/clear the new 24 man raid will be huge. Far more enjoyable and used for the majority of customers. (what does that tell you se about where focus should be? )

Considering the source, I'm not surprised that odious 1%'er sentiment exists.I've seen several posters (on Reddit especially) saying Alexander normal should have never been created, or have a staggered release quite a long time after Savage. I guess maybe he's saying they shouldn't listen to a very minor part of the playerbase in regards to that? Just guessing though.
I am also not shocked that the Savage numbers are as low as they are, given the attitudes of those who DO run it regularly. Who would want that kind of stress (particularly jobs deemed "useless" by these 1%'ers)?
