There is a lot wrong with XIV's architecture. I agree it shouldn't be, but it is... and I don't think SE can easily fix their underlying tech that skills, movement, etc are built on (or other things like the antiquated discreet server model). The latency should not be an issue. This mmo is one of the premiere mmos on the market now not some mmo struggling to get on it's feet. I play other online games and shooters with much more dynamic control and suffer little to no lag. And that is in open world and 64 man instances.
The server host they use is predominantly a business cloud provider full of redundancies. The latency should not be an issue. Those redundancies result in lag.
My latency is great.. until it gets to Quebec. Then it hits the brick wall.

I wish they give something more like FFXI's merit system. Where we're giving a variety of choices to boost certain traits or new traits.

agreed need traits, hopefully to boost the new skills from heavensward, maybe a couple new skills for each class but not a lot
What kind of traits, exactly? If you mean racial traits I'm entirely against it. I like that you can basically make whatever character you want in regards to looks and still play whatever class you like (yes I'm already aware certain races are better for certain things due to stats, but the point difference is so minimal that only a few classes really need to pay attention/make up for it).
Now perhaps traits based on what your starting class or starting home city would be? That could prove interesting. Or traits earned from leveling up the different jobs that you can turn on/off (not limited like the cross class skills). Granted that would be kind of hard to balance, but it would be incentive to play other jobs on your character to higher levels.

Dragoon has 32(not including PvP skills), 21 of which are in our main rotation.
I like the difficulty Heavensward added to the job, but there are definitely a ton of skills.

I hope SE takes a look at the numbers of skills each class needs before the next expansion.

Race traits was never brought up, we're talking about job traits.
For instance, I'd like for us to the choose to boost Spell Speed or increase potency on Stone III by 5% or make parry REALLY useful on tankers but not necessary if they are given other choices.
