Romance being depicted in media is not the same as shoving sexuality in people's face.

There is way more sex in media than there is romance, romance was the wrong term to use for this instance. As for the rest of it, the history of non-hetero individuals and heterosexual individuals in the USA is different. For a long time (and to a lesser extent still) people had to hide who they were and pretend to be like everyone else, which is a really stressful way to live (teenage transgenders, who have the worst of it, have the highest suicide rate of anyone associated with the LGBT community which as a whole has higher rates than normal, it's pretty staggering if you look into it) and these parades were a way to let them know that they were not alone, and to give them a sense of community or release that burden that society had placed on them.

People do not want to be defined solely by their sexual orientation, but the subject matter in the case of these parades has everything to do with sexual orientation and gender identity so of course you are going to see a lot of things associated with that if you are an observer, this isn't everyday behavior you are seeing. Also let's be honest, if you get a lot of people together in a charged atmosphere no matter what the occasion, some pretty crazy stuff is probably going to happen.

Please show me all of these gay NPCs by the way I'd love to know, because outside of the those two incredibly minor characters in the Wanderer's palace story line who MIGHT be gay, I can't think of a single one (And that's only one possible thing for the LGB part of the community, I'd be down right amazed if there's anything ever for the T part that isn't incredibly gross.). Like.. What do you think of everyone who goes to watch movies about "Boy falls in love with girl, pursues relationship, they end up together" because chances are a lot of people seeing the movie are going "Oh, this appeals to my sexuality and I think it looks nice, I'll go see it." (You know, "I'm STRAIGHT! Let's throw money at this thing for made straight people like me!"). Straight pride parades would be different event entirely, straight folks (Outside of interracial relationships and the issues with that which fall way more into racism over being able to express your straightness imho) have plenty of ways to express their sexuality openly or enjoy media about their sexuality with quite a bit of options to choose from, folks within the LGBT community do not. You're also ignoring the whole "LGBT pride parades are done in tradition of the pride parades that occurred after the Stonewall Riots, the beginning for the LGBT rights movement." historic deal, something straight people lack outside of the one exception I can think of and any sort of "straight pride parade" definitely lacks. They're not trolling, no one is saying "Define me only by my sexual orientation!!1!" either, it's literally a celebration of people going "Hey, this is part of who I am, let's have events to celebrate that and allow us to enjoy ourselves for once.", not really all that different than people getting patriotic on the Fourth of July, letting loose during Mardi Gras, or any instance of people celebrating part of themselves.

A lot of the time stories end up making narratives about ethical, moral, and/or political issues. Sure, they're not a battleground no, but they're the writers direct opinions of whatever issue they're addressing in the story. Final Fantasy as a series has had several instances of the writers going "Organized religion is bad and you should be wary of it" as a prime example. FFXIV has themes about racism, religion, severe socioeconomic class divides, the struggles of refugees, et cetera, it's far from this apolitical bias free game. Heck the inclusion of same-sex marriage ceremonies is a political statement of itself, it's SE saying "Hey, we think this is fine and okay too. If you want to do this because of you're gay yourself, well here." by allowing it all the same. Now, I've got plenty of criticism or suggestions with regards to this game in terms of LGBT stuff, but I've got to give SE a bit of appreciation for the same-sex marriage ceremonies.

It's about pride of accomplishment and celebration more than it is about an entertaining parade.

It's about a group of people overcoming thousands of years of discrimination and being happy they can finally walk down the street and be themselves without fear in real life, and showing pride and celebration that they can do it in real life by celebrating it in game too.

There's more to the parade and thread than just to provide a pretty parade. The idea behind this thread is why the parade was made in the first place. It wouldn't be much of a celebration of LGBT rights if the parade was completely devoid of LGBT rights relevance.

Most parades are in celebration of something. I go to Christmas parades almost every year even though I am agnostic. I'm more than happy to see people celebrate their religion, even when I don't follow the religion myself, as long as their celebrations are not harmful.

You don't have to like the idea behind a parade, but you can still enjoy the parade. If you don't want to enjoy the parade because of the idea, let people celebrate them anyways. Most parades are as innocent as anything could possibly be, and letting people come together and celebrate what they're proud of in a completely innocent manner shouldn't be too much to ask.

Lots of groups do it, the LGBT movement is just one group. And it so happens to be a group that's coming out of a long era of discrimination. There are lots of reasons for LGBT people to show their pride and celebrate right now.
